Metrozoo has hatched a mammoth plan to become a different breed of zoo. But it will take more than simple animal attraction. The zoo got unanimous approval from the Miami-Dade County Commission Thursday for an ambitious master plan that would turn the 731-acre compound into a theme park-like hybrid over the next two decades. Estimated cost over the 20-year stretch: $350 million, which will have to be cobbled from public and private funds.

Miami is not a zoo. It is one of the easiest foreign countries for American's to visit! The only thing more ridiculous than the City is the politics.
That said, the MetroZoo would be a great place to build on a South Florida theme park concept. South Florida is probably one of the biggest metro areas without a theme park...Orlando being 3.5 hours away. I hope it works out.
