Randy Moss to treat kids to a day at Cedar Point

As a child growing up in Rand, W. Va., Randy Moss remembers how much it meant when a family friend treated him to a trip to Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio. The all-pro Minnesota Vikings wide receiver wanted to make a similar impact on about 100 youngsters’ lives. Saturday, the former Dupont High School star took three busloads of children for an all-expenses paid day at the Sandusky, Ohio, park.

That is awesome. It's nice to see someone with a boat load of money treating kids to something they normally can't do.

Why don't pro athletes get more credit for stuff like this....they certainly get enough "free publicity" when they screw up. Good work Randy....if he puts in this kind of REAL effort on the field, he can be the next Jerry Rice, no doubt about it....

There is no next Jerry Rice....there is only Jerry Rice! If he would get his act together he "might" be able to generate Jerry's still growing career totals.

more pro athlets need to do this! I have more respect for him now.

KC (no Sunshine Band)...I think a LOT of pro athletes do this sort of thing, it just doesn't sell the newspapers as much as the recent AI incident and similar behavior....

bill, thinking the "family-friendly" atmosphere of parks and pro sports is ABSURDLY under-publicized, and that a stronger tie-in would benefit both....

I was there that day and my friends mom happened to ask Randy what time it was without even knowing it. Then we ended up pointing him out later on that day and she told us about it. I thought that was kind of neat.

I'm glad all the kids got to go, but he spent maybe $7000 which to him is his pocket change. I believe he was fined over $50000 last year from the team alone. The fact is a hated player tries to do something to lift his image. Not working!

Grrrr....Guess his PR man suggested it. That guy's attitude gives the NFL a bad name. Hopefully this act is a step toward's "growing up". In any case, not really "newsworthy" in my opinion.

I would like to believe that Mr. Moss is doing this on a whim, and not because his agent or publicist instructed him to. I am having a huge problem believing this because of how he acts on the football field, he portrays himself as a selfish player who is completely absorbed with himself. If I am wrong, and I hope I am, I was wrong about him, and way to go Randy.

I wonder if he "rode when he wanted to ride."
