Does Millennium Force have midcourse brakes?

If not, how do they run three trains? What about the other Intamin Hypers?

The only one with block brakes I can think of w/o thinking too hard is California Screamin'.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are two sets of brakes before MF's station. There aren't any brakes on the course.

It's very simple how they run three trains. One is unloading, one is loading, and one is out on the track. As for your question, there are no midcourse brakes.

You free fly that thing all the way until the end. Having two stations is what allows the three-train operation.

The brake run has two parts to it. The first part only slows the ride, while the retractable brakes actually stop it in combination with the kicker wheels (yes, they slide bit when it rains).

There are actually a several blocks in that whole line there from the stopping brakes up to the lift. The reason is that all three trains have to move at the same time, and they're only a few car lengths apart. When they hit interval exactly, it's neat to see a train come in while the next train begins to climb the lift and the other starts to move in to the load station.

That would be nice if more coasters could operate like this, especially on hypers, inverts, and wooden coasters. One of the only things I like about SLC's are that there are no mid-course brakes, which is also the reason I like CCI and GCI coasters. I know that most of these coasters without mid-course brakes don't need them because they aren't that long, but in a lot of cases, it would be nice to have that extra train if need be.

For the first time, It's kind of weird to see one train dispatched a going up the hill and seeing another one about 20 feet or so hot on it heels entering the station.

And it does need 2 sets of brakes to slow it down. After the train passes the first set, the front car may be still cooking faster than Mine Ride's top speed ;).

Yes, yes, yes, it is a beautiful thing. Tuesday we walked on MF all day, every train was full, the longest I waited that afternoon after the rain was 10 minutes, it is THE operation. Wednesday the line started later, and we might have had to wait 20 minutes, but I totally got into watching thier operations. At times, it was as if more people were on MF than waiting (I know that's a slight exaggeration) on Tuesday! I never saw an empty seat.

there are a few CCI's with block brakes, coastercraver. Ghostrider and The Boss come to mind.

Shivering Timbers and The Villain have a spot for mids, but since they're running two trains brakes were not needed.

Umm i thought magnetic brakes were better becuase they slow the train down at wahtever speed its trevelling at so i dont think it would matter if they dispacth slow.

He's not talking about the brake run...GhostRider's block brake is up on the 2nd turnaround into the 'ejector drop' as it is known. I've ridden it numerous times and no speed and momentum is lost while passing the block, so it is evident that the blocks aren't used.
