RollerCoaster Tycoon: The Board Game

Posted Friday, June 7, 2002 9:54 AM | Contributed by WCS4488

The ultra-popular CD-ROM game from Infogrames has recently been transformed into a board game. Players apparently will move their piece through an amusement park under construction. Players will select cards which will give them rights to build things throughout the park. When another player lands on your ride, you recieve points. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Sounds like a spin-off of Monopoly....Theres nothing wrong with that because it is a great game. I doubt I'll buy this for because I have no need for it even though it does sound fun.

this thing sounds supa-ultra-crazy- stupid

Really, the most fun in this game was building rides and killing people...i doubt this game comes with the ability to do eiter.

But still, RCT-II does look hella-awsome

Wow. Looks like whoever's behind this really wants to milk the game for all it's worth.

I play board games all the time. Taboo, Pictionary, Scrabble, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Cranium, Outburst, Tribond, Quickword, 25 Words or Less, Clue.... I love all of these games.

But you're right, this contrived RCT game looks like crap.

We have a group that meets once a week to do so. El Grande, Tigris and Euphrates, Web of Power, Settlers of Catan, Cosmic Encounter, etc. Soemthing tells me we won't be picking this one up, though.

A little silly? Yes. An attempt to make even more money off of the name? Yes.

But heck it's only $20, I'll probably get a copy just to have.

Funny, I was in my parents attic last night and noticed all the old board games I had as a kid, and thought about how no one plays them much anymore. What happened to good ole family time?

And CoasterBuzz is sponsored in part by Cedar Point... does that mean I'm selling out too?

I'm going to buy it, just to add to my collection of coaster items. I have the original game and all the exspansion packs on the shelf, soon to also have RCT2, and then I'll have the boardgame. Hell, if I wanna play monopoly might as well have something to do with coasters! :)

What they need to make is a roller coaster board game along the same lines as Mouse Trap.

You know, so when you go around the board you construct various parts of the roller coaster, then the winner gets to start it off. I don't know, fantasies........

This sounds fun but the Idea is a lot like Monopoly except with rollercoasters. I'll still buy it.
