I just finished watching the video. Gotta love that on-ride footage. I should be riding it by March, but after watching this, March seems so far away.

If you're an employee, why haven't you ridden it already?  I'm not an employee and I've already ridden it a total of 23 times!!

Is it me or is there an awful lot of play in the seat rotation? From the ground it looks a lot smoother. For those of you who have been on it, do you notice it?

For me, the rotation of the seats is what surprised me the most. They are alot smoother than what I expected, especially the back flip element, omg just incredible. To look at, it seems jerky and a bit bumpy, but on the ride it feels very smooth and appropriate, at least in my opinion. The ride isn't perfect though, the second Raven turn, while intense as hell, is kinda jerky on the outside seats, and seems to get worse the more you ride. And you can tell that future 4D models will be even smoother(imagine that) once the kinks are worked out. Even still, I honestly can't think of a single B&M invert that I like even close to X. Arrow has pulled off a small miracle.

Have you ever considered that it may not be the park that's the problem, but YOU??? *** This post was edited by DWeaver on 1/10/2002. ***

DWeaver is right on that.  The outside seats seem to have a lot more pull on them, especially during the half and half and the half-twist at the end of the ride.  I felt that the ride was definitely much rougher in the back than in the front.  The first couple of rides on Dec. 24th in the front were smooth as glass but then on Jan. 1st I noticed a little more roughness.  Of course, it could have been me - I rode it 16 times in a row that day and had to try every row on each side.  My favorite, though, is still the front right -- the sky dive drop is awesome and you hang there forever, and then that graceful swoop into the turn after the bunny hop/backward flip, with you on the left front above the track.  Incredible!!

I was there this morning at the dedication ceremony.

Roughness isn't really that big of a problem.  The rotations are seamless, and the headrests are squishy.

What an awesoem ride!  I can't stress that enough, this ride just impressed me in every way possible.

Got 5 rides in, including one in the front... just wonderful.  For those of you considering planning a So Cal vacation, let X make up your mind.  A one of a kind feeling, like no other coaster...

I'm with DWeaver all the way on that one! Well....most of the way. I personally loved the second raven turn and didn't think it was rough at all.....just fast and furious!

faster-faster!

Hmm. I guess I'll go out on a limb here and say I thought the rotations were definitey jerky at points. The back of the train being far more susceptable than the front. The bunny hop-roll and the following raven turn (the 2nd) are where I felt it most. Towards the end of the first day, I was really not liking that part of the ride!

I think for most people it will be 'smooth.' I only noticed cause I rode it alot (25 times the first day, 43 total) my calves were getting sore from all the high-g, semi-reclined maneuvers, and my shoulders were getting bruised.

One thing I learned.... keep your body relaxed!

I'd have to say I like the front more, because it's a little smoother, but mainly because you really float through all those elements!

have fun riding it, everyone! Thanks Arrow!

I've never been so excited about a coaster... EVER. I watch the video from coasters2k.com literally 10-20 times a day. In fact, on the nth of February(2days after I get back from Paris), I'm flying to LA to ride. Gotta make a quick stop by SFMW first (Medusa/V2), and then on the 29th, I get Deja Vu, Goliath, and then number 430, X!!

Rolloccoast, if you're going to SFMW in Feb, you're going to have a long wait at the gates. They are closed til spring.

And SFMM is currently only open weekends. Make sure you check your calendars before you go.

Hey George!  Thanks for the info.  I wasnt too sure if they were open, and i knew that sfmm/knotts were going to be open just weekends, but I've taken that into consideration with my planning.

The X footage was incredible. That will surely be a Top Ten coaster for 2002. Can't wait to go to SFMM sometime, it's a shame I live 3000 miles away from it.
