Any stats on the SECOND TA2K?

This was taken off the 'Park Worl' website

S&S Power has delivered its first two compressed air-launched roller coasters to Paramount's Kings Dominion and Jujikyu Highlands.

Umm, maybe I've been asleep at the wheel (or more likely the Legend has just erased my mind) but have there been any reported stats on the TA2K at J-Highlands? If so, could someone repeat them or point me to them?

Word is that it will be approximately 300ft tall with a top speed of 107mph! Hopefully it will have a more interesting layout than HS.

BTW, don't you mean Fujikyu Highlands? I can't remember where I read this, perhaps on Thrillride, that it will be built next to their ex-world-tallest-coaster Fujiyama.

Just to clarify, that should be Fujikyu Highlands. As for the stats, I haven't read anything official, but the numbers Taipan mentioned are the ones I keep hearing. And an intrepid Thrillride! reader found a link that may reveal the name: http://www.fujikyu.co.jp/fuji-q/main/img/fujiyama2.jpg

Yeah, I spoke to some S&S guys at the hypersonic opening. Good old Stan has been quoted as saying 107mph and 320(ish) ft. Since I'm going to Japan I was mainly interested in WHEN it was going to open. They said most likely early July. (Fine by me, I'm not going to be there until late August!)

Where had been up in the air until now. I was hoping Fujikyu (it's for sure in my plans) and it looks like it has been confirmed now!

I REALLY REALLY want to see a layout since this is the first production model. I really enjoyed the first hill on Hypersonic, and hope a similar hill is in the layout of this one.

Yeah, Cathrine, I was pretty excited when I found out I have to go! First thing I did was to make sure I could hit all the big parks while I'm there. Don't worry...there will be a trip report...probably of epic proportions. (I'm also thinking of taking a suitcase full of film! :) )

Hey Blast Coaster, I don't get what you are talking about...downward vertical launch??? How will that work? Seems like a big departure from Hypersonic. I didn't think they would stray too far from the launch system on it. Did you read this as fact somewhere, or is it just a rumor? So, are you saying there will be a 320ft lift, then the train will be held straight down and then launched?? That doesn't sounds right to me. Sorry there are so many questions. I'm REALLY interested!

The coaster launches you like HyperSonic then, once facing towards the ground after the top of the tower launches you downward. Also, S&S WILL use this on one of their upcoming TA2K's, I'm pretty sure it is the Fujikyu version.

How will the downwards launch mechanism push the train down?

It's not needed as the terminal velocity from 322' is 98mph. Don't forget it's a 107mph LAUNCH, enough to get the train over the tower.

I don't know about that, Blast Coaster. Doesn't sound too doable (at least easily) with their current launch mechanism. After studying hypersonic while waiting in line, that just sounds like trouble to me, as I would think the train would have to be stopped at the top of the tower to engage the launch sled. I just don't see it happening, yet. (Although it sounds cool!)

Please answer the following question, is the downward launch fact, or speculation? If it is fact, then where did you hear it? I'm very curious!! If this is true, will I be even MORE excited about going there!!! :)

This particular model should be called a Thrust Air 3000!

Maybe they should wait to build this thing until they actually figure out how to get Hypersonic to work. They only have 2 trains with 8 seats on the track and the ride is usually broken half the day. I also think S&S needs to work on the launch system. If Hypersonic has a rollback every 1/2 hr(well it did when i was there) which then creates another 1hr of downtime I'm sure it will be worse for a 300 footer.
