Theme Park planned for Northern Louisiana

It sounds like they are a long way from making their dream a reality. Also, I have to wonder if they have enough of a market to support the park.

Truthfully 67 acres isn't all that much land, so it could a "closed in park".

They wouldnt have enough money to get a huge coaster such as B&M, Intamin, etc. Maybe they would get a wooden though. And 67 acres? Very limited.

I could see all new coasters being built plus new flat rides maybe a S&S Power Tower type ride a carrousel and a ferris wheel all started in a new park. Were is the money coming from?

Don't hold your breath, this part of the nation is having a very slow economy right now (south Arkansas-Louisiana), I think it would be several years before anything major happens, besides a few carnival rides, also, Hamels in Shreveport couldn't make after all of these years, and they had a coaster,I would say it will be atleast 3 or 4 years, with out corporate sponsorship. I bet they could by a CHAOS cheap.

Those where just ideas of coasters they could get, I didn't mean right away. "They" could maybe get one of those in 2-3 years.

they should build an X so alot of people would go there. than a wooden. then a hyper. then an arrow mega looper, then a B&M. but that would take alot of time and they would need to but alot of land.

Remember they do have to appeal to the kids, too. I don't think this new park will see a 4D for a while if any. Hopefully, they will get a good-sized woody the first season.

Ok, I just received an email from the "Times Mansfield Bureau." The theme park, hotel, and retail space will all be built on the 67 acres along highway 191. The reporter was not sure if there was any additional land to expand. "They" have enlisted the services of an architect/consultant that has connection with SDC. There will be four phases of construction and the park is last. Also, the money is a little low, not near what they will need (about $37 million). Most of their money is coming from the monthly Lagniappe Trade Days. A roller coaster (yes they just said a roller coaster) is planned along with water rides, a go-cart track, etc.

most people say that SFMM should get more family coasters, but what people have to understand is, SFMM is not a family park, and will never be one.

Well, this isn't SFMM that we are talking about.

SDC seems like a good fit, regionally and financially, for an up-and-coming park. I'm pretty sure there's not much of a population base in that area to support a larger park, yet. So keep hoping, but it will probably be a while before they get anything too expensive.
