Lancaster wants its carousel back to spawn development

Ok, so it's in storage. Good, they should try to bring it back. I just hope it gets taken care of, because I see this as a possible target for vandals.

There are signs up all around the area, saying something like "Save the Animals" and pictures of the Carousell animals.

Hopefully they can acquire it and bring it back. Sadly, the same can't be said for the rest of Rocky Springs.

The park was the home of a Herb Schmeck / PTC coaster named "Wildcat" that was supposedly quite good. Unfortunately, after a brief reopening in the early 1980's, the park closed, and the "Wildcat" was demolished.

I believe a housing development (or condo's or town houses or something) stands where the park once was. The only remanant of the park that remains is the old bowling alley.

I do hope they get it running again. I do love roller coasters but my first and biggest love (in terms of amusement rides, in case my husband is reading this) is classic carousels! I live in Lansing now and I sure wish there were one around here still. The closest one is in a museum in Grand Rapids -- I'm going to go visit that one next week.

Hey this is just like Cleveland Ohio Idea. They are interested in bringing back the old Euclid beach carousel. Although many tax payers dont like the idea. The carousel is in the process of being fixed up. I hope it happens.

I live here in Lancaster and I think they are really close to getting it back up and running. I honestly believe it will be taken care of.
Did you know that Rocky Springs Park is also for sale?!? I don't know about the zoning or anything but, the land is for sale. I drive by it atleast 4 times a week and I just WISH I had the money to buy the park. That would be like a dream come true!!!

Like I said above, I was under the impression that there was nothing left of the park.

Most of the land where the park was is still "intact". Rocky Springs Bowling is still there and operational. There is a housing development behind the Bowling Alley but, there is still a good bit of land there.
There are a few buildings left standing (some are not in the best shape, from what I can see when I drive by).
I just found the sale ad in the paper. Here it is:
