Construction continues like clockwork at the Mountain

Posted Wednesday, July 11, 2001 8:35 AM | Contributed by Karl DeAngelo

It seems that Magic Mountain does want to open both X and Deja Vu this year as work continues at a furious pace for both. Deja Vu has received its trains, although I was unable to take a good photo of them in the station as the area was blocked off.

It's funny, it would be better if SFMM advertised these rides as 2002 additions that you'll see in 2001.

sigh, SFNE goes "tiny" for 2001

IMOHO the tallest support for the RT looks ugly, except when viewed from the other side (same side as Viper). Then again there is no other way of supporting it seeing as how heavy the trains will be.

for a side note before karl arrived i talked to a construction worker who had a very familer accent, Then i rembered Georgia had Vekoma Eigeneers come down, so this guy must be from there, He said One Month, which is different from every one else who said two weeks. Tahts when we dashed over to see the trains, me and a friend of mine. The are green lap bars dark green, and i think some other maybe black couldnt see seats, i only got as far as the bridge over towards it.

X has been vertical for 2 months. Construction is going fast, but I wouldn't really say its "flying".

Deja Vu is coming very close to enter the testing phase. The motors were installed on the vertical spikes this week, and the cables were threaded onto the ride as well. The station structure and entire ride is complete and it seems that the only thing they're working on is the queue line and the dropping station platform.

Hey, I just got done checking a few stats on X for how long the ride length would be. From my sorta fuzzy math (yet it worked for Batman: the ride) it gives me a shorter ride length for X than that of Batman. Is this right? I really want to be proved wrong on this one, someone please prove me wrong!!

X - 3,610 ft
Batman - 2,700 ft

But i dont know about ride length (time), so you may be right...

Considering the height and speed, actual ride time on X will be about the same as Batman, very short. But Batman's length never stopped it from being my favorite invert for many years.

X is all about the drop. Everything else is gravy.

I don't think everything else is gravy. That 175 foot raven turn, that flip right before the turnaround and the second raven turn look awesome.

Déjà Vu: Thrill seekers plummet from 196-feet, fly head-over-heels at 65 mph over the outside of a vertical loop and a giant 110-foot high boomerang turn with nothing but the sky above their dangling feet. http://www.geocities.com/totallysfmm

At Six Flags Great America I was told by a worker that they are aiming for a July 28th opening date.

The best looking thing on X is the 90 degree track angle on the turn around. Completely perpendicular to the ground should make for real exciting turn.Oh yeah, the drop and raven turn look fun too. :)
