Backup generators, huh?

Well, geez, why doesn't the park just build it's own POWER PLANT??

It's not realistic...S:UE itself uses enough electricity to power a shopping mall for 1/2 hour every dispatch!

The park uses an immense amount of power. I just can't see the feasability there.

If you look at some of the really large carnivals,they provide their own power in the form of several trailer mounted generator sets. These can be in the range of up to 500KW capacity per set. Several of these could handle most parks,but that's a lot of capitol tied up in something that may have to be used once in a blue moon.

hey, I wasn't talking at all about the power outage. I was talking about how long it took for the park to get on it's feet again after the power came back on!

btw, I don't dislike that park, I just don't like the way it's run.

I'm very suprised that all Six Flags Parks don't have generators just for situations like this. You'd expect for all major theme parks to be prepared for this, but I guess SFWOA wasn't. Oh well, they'll probably be next time.

Wait... what are you talking about? How could you justify the expense of backup equipment to keep a park running for two hours? That's ridiculous. No park anywhere any time would do that.

If you want to go on a ride that has a power supply and actually moves you have to pay an additional $10.00.

Jeff, I agree totally, my husband's an electrician and believe me, I'd rather wait two hours and ride knowing the ride has full optimum power and not generator power. Besides, with our family, we go from ride to ride, stopping to grab something to eat while in line. When there's a down time for even 30 minutes, we actually are able to relax while we eat. Also, as you said, having that kind of backup equipment would only result in higher prices to the park, which we would be paying.

Those storms were pretty bad. I do know that what we got hit with (northern KY) was probabily the worst cause I was watching a funnel cloud form above my house. That was freaky
