Stricker's Grove to open to public July 4

Stricker's Grove has placed details about its July 4th Public Day on its telephone message system, (513.521.9747).
The park, normally closed to all but private parites, will be open on July 4, 2001 as the first of two annual public days. This year the park will be open from 3:00pm till 11:00pm with s fireworks display at 10:00pm. Pay-One-Price ridepasses will be available for $12.00 or you can purchase tickets and pay by the ride. Nominal parking fee assesed.
Strickers is home to two wooden coasters, the Tornado, modeled after the Rocky Glen Mighty Lightning' and the Teddy Bear, a junior coaster modeled after a coaster by the same name at Coney Island in Cincinncati.

Just got the same info by email. Parking is $3.00. I've heard a lot of good things about this park and I'm looking forward to the trip.

Kids need to take a step back from the high-tech 300' plus GIGA thrills and at least give a place like this a try. Parks like Williams Grove, Holiday World, Knoebel's, Lake Winnie, etc. are just as great if not better than a day fighting Paramount's stupid policies or Six Flags' horrible prices. One ride on the Tornado.....WOW! SIT IN THE BACK!! And you'll love the backyard feel of this place.
I have been there for both main events they have each year and even then it doesn't get that bad. One train per coaster and at the most a 5-10 minute wait. Remember this park is only open a couple times a year, so when it is up and running there will be lots of locals.

I am really gaining an appreciation for the smaller scale and family run parks. Most of my agenda in the near future will be hitting these more out of the way places. Forget about the big guys. I've had enough of them for a while.
I won't be living in Ohio forever and who knows if I'll ever get a chance to experience this park again. I think I'm looking forward to this trip more then I was for Cedar Point earlier this season.

Stricker's Grove is very small and there are never any lines, except for about a fifteen minute wait for the coaster. I have been there over a dozen times. There is a new ride there for this year. It is a Tip Top.

Arrow Guy, I'm so glad that someone else appreciates Lake Winnie like i do. It may be small but it is something people in this area live for every year.
People don't realize that they do actually have a World renowned rollercoaster! The Cannonball was the best coaster built in the mid-size range during the 60's according to many coaster buffs and industry insiders.
These smaller parks are staples of their communities and it's sad that companies like Six Flags want to get rid of them. If it wasn't for the Lake Winnies and Stricker's Grove's of the world, SFMM and PKI wouldn't exsist.

Winnie is a fantastic place. I had a great time on all of their rides. That Cannonball is magnificent.
I will also agree that Strickers is one of the the better parks i have been to. Ralph keeps it clean and freindly and offers a lot for a great price!

Sheik al Squeak
I was just there last night for a church picnic. Their next "family day" after july 4th is Sunday, August 12th. POP $7.00 for admission and ALL rides, free softdrinks and parking. Hours 1p-9p.

In response to Dave Althoff's question, I am at 245 Tornado rides and I should take 250 this next week! When I go to Stricker's, I try to ride all of the rides and not just the Tornado because all of the rides are just so good, it would be a shame to miss any of them.
