New Phantom's Revenge pictures posted at Kennywood Boulevard

On April 14th, Kennywood opened for its first day of the season. Pictures from inside the park show that most of the supports are in place and the track laying is coming along at a decent pace. The Turtle and Thunderbolt are still closed due to the construction of Phantom's Revenge going on in that area. This coaster is really starting to come together and we look forward to bringing you more pictures of it!

I like what I'm seeing...looks like lots of airtime-filled hills in the second half of the ride.

Zar, are you asking if Kennywood Boulevard has a park map? No, we don't. I'll look into getting one the next time I'm at the park, but I don't really think they're all that plentiful anyway. That's one of the complaints about Kennywood... I don't think they see themselves as a vacation destination as much as a Cedar Point does, so park maps aren't readily available.

I think we've got a shot in the gallery of one of the map signs in the park.

Actually, we were noting that air-time might be a little lack-luster. If anything, this thing is going to deliver laterals!

When will Thunderbolt be up?

There seems to be a lot of work being done on Thunderbolt, so I think it should be ready in the next week or two. The track stops just before the trench right now, so PR construction underneath the Thunderbolt should be completed soon.

What kinda trains will Phantom's Revenge use? will they be similar to the old ones or a new breed of trains?

Morgan is totally redoing the old trains, this time without shoulder restraints.

The latest First Drop magazine had pictures of one of the cars at the Morgan factory. They look like standard Morgan hypercoaster trains on the outside, except they are two-bench.

We were thinking about a Memorial Day weekend trip to Kennywood. We've never been before, and it's enough of a distance away that it's a trip we need to plan for and take an extra day or so off work. Think the coaster will be open by Memorial Day? Or should we put off the trip until it's definite?

PR should definately be open by Memorial Day in my opinion, Kennywood seems to be standing by an opening in May. Unless there is some horrible delay, it'll be open.
