Recently took a trip to Disneyland, and it was an overall fun experience. Got to go to Cal. Adventure too.
Anyway, on day one, I rode Space Mountain (first of three times) and the music was on. Great addition to the ride, and I really enjoyed it.
Went to Cal. Adventure and rode Screamin 18 times. (Hint, go on a Friday, and ride the hell out of the coaster around lunch time. Works like a charm. The ops know me by face now.) First few times, the on board soundtrack didn't give me problems. After about the 4th time, I started wishing it was off.
The soundtrack on Screamin does not work well for the following reasons:
A: Outdoor ride = more sound. They really, really crank up the volume to the annoying level.
B: Soundtrack gets annoyingly repetititve. Yes, the surf guitar is cool, but it's the same thing throughout the entire ride.
C: Adds nothing to the ride. On Space Mountain, the soundtrack has cool effects that really add to the suspense of the ride. Cal Screamin has really none of that.
Just a note for Disney, turn down the music or move the speakers away from my fragile ears! The soundtrack isn't bad as a whole. It just doens't add anything to the ride, and comes mighty close to taking something away from it. It gave me this horrible headache that mde me stop riding!
