What was she doing on a ride with a year old(plus 4 month's for volleyballguy lol) Baby? That's just pure crazy, that just throw's your balance of carrying him as it is,then on a moving boat give me a break is as much her fault as it is disney's.

Wow, you learn something new every day. Today I learned that 1 year is equal to 16 months! Must be that "new" math! LOL!! But seriously, Supermandl is right. What the heck was she doing on there w/ a baby??? I know it's a relatively tame ride, but c'mon peeps, use a little common sense! Sadly, she'll find some scum sucking lawyer that wants to makes a few bucks off of something that was mostly her fault. Final result: rising gate prices.

Why are you blaming the mother for taking her kid on the ride? What is she supposed to do, leave the kid with an attendant? Pirates is not a ride that needs any age restrictions. The ride malfunctioned and she hurt herself. Let's not play the blame the victim game that is all too common among enthusiasts. Remember kids, rides are complex machines with many moving parts that are capable of failure at any time.

Just the 10 foot plunge or so with a baby in your arm's can cause major damage to a baby(how did she brace her self just for that plunge), ive been to WDW about 30 times in my life and ive never seen a baby on that ride. There is a diffrence from a child that can brace themselves and a baby who depends on the mother. She should not have ridden it, I have had to sit out ride's because of my son. My child's saftey is more important than riding pirate's.
Also if this boat moved while unloading shouldn't there be more people hurt exiting the boat.

they don't just dump kids off in those boxes you pick your stuffed tweety birds up at after the ride. I don't blame her for bringing the kid on, she has to otherwise she dosen't ride any kind of ride for like years. granted I've never ridden pirates at disneyland, so it might very well be more intense than I thought, in which case she shoulda waited.
If the boat lurched forward and caused the accident it's disney's fault. I don't think she would've porpously fallen to get money while holding here kid. I suppose you never know though

For those of you who don't know, Disney has the best thing a parent could ask for: the baby swap program (since copied by others). All she had to do was hand the baby off to her spouse (assuming she wasn't alone) and then switch places after she rode. Supermandl is right, even that 10 ft. plunge is not something you can brace for AND hold a baby. I said it earlier and I'll say it again she shouldn't have taken the baby on the ride. Not every ride has a baby swap program. Only the rides that the babies cannot ride on. I don't think that drop is all that bad that you could not carry a child on it. It said that the boat lurched forward. I don't think that she did that. I don't know if the boats are timed so that they move automatically and she was not able to clear out. Understandably, because of the child, or if it was operator error. At WDW I remember the boats coming to a complete stop for unloading. Maybe I am wrong and maybe Disneyland's doesn't work that way.

First of all, I don't think the kid is an issue here. Obviously the infant had ridden the ride and had not suffered any harm. The only reason the kid is at all an issue here is because it would have made it more difficult for the person involved to safely exit the boat. But the same could be said for any item she might have been carrying...camera, purse, picnic basket, infant kid, whatever.

Second, PotC is a flume ride. As such, I'm guessing it uses typical weir brakes in the loading area...if the boat did lurch, it was probably struck by another boat, or the shifting passenger load allowed it to move forward on the brake roller slightly. Either way, it was not necessarily any kind of failure, and it was not necessarily anything that could have been prevented given the design of the ride.

I do get the impression, though, that this particular person may be overreacting to the incident. A lot of things seem fishy here...

yah this parks sucks too. did you know that when i was on the teapot ride i had to go to the bathroom and little did i know that a crazed guy was following me and when i got to the bathroom he slammed open the stall door and started to beat me and forced me to have sex with him and a cast member walked in and saw it all but didn't do anything about it so this park sucks!
