Hold on for a front seat ride on Thundercoaster, the newest wooden coaster from Vekoma. The ride is scheduled to open soon at Norway's Tusenfryd.
Check it out at the Tusenfryd Woodie Progress Page.

Oh my freaking gosh! That is an absolutlely fantastic layout! I mean the first half is like a twister/zeypher with what looks like great laterals and enormous air on the second hill. And just at the point when I thought the ride was over, it breaks into what amounts to the return leg of a "Morgan-style" out n back with a series of bunny hop speed bumps. I really wished I was that camera...in a light rain too?!? Wonderful! Any chance of Six Flags bringing a Vekoma woodie Stateside?

I don't know if its the video or the ride itself, but it seems to lose alot of speed about mid-ride.

SWEETNESS! I'd love to have one of those at a park close by, yes about mid-ride it loses so much speed probably because the hills are too big.

Vekoma built the first Woodie at Six Flags Holland (Walibi Flevo) in 2000. The third Woodie of Vekoma will be built in Six Flags Belguim (Walibi Wavre) in 2001.
Perhaps Cedar Point will built a woodie of Vekoma in 2002 (Fire Streak, the largest woodie of the world). Think that Six Flags will built the first Vekoma woodies in America in 2002.

To the people who say the ride loses speed:
Bear in mind that this Video was taken during the first or second ride after the completion of the coaster. The ride will not open before april or may. Place your bets that this baby will run WILD after a few months of running in...!
I am pretty amazed by this layout. The first ekoma woodie is not rough at all, but it tends to bore a little bit. The design for the belgium coaster doesnt look too sexy to. But this one, WOW!

It looks good to me. For some reason to me anyway some parks of it resemble The Wildcat @ Hershey, parts, and of the Phoenix.

Three things you should know:
1) None of the Vekoma woodies have actually been designed or built by Vekoma. They have acted as project managers and supplied the trains and other mechanical things. Thundercoaster was completely designed by English company Allott & Lomax whilst the other two have been designed by an American Dennis Starkie. That is why Thundercoaster feels completely different to the other Vekoma woodies. Dennis Starkie will not design 'fierce' coasters like Thundercoaster and so any more Vekoma woodies will probably be like Six Flags Holland/Belgium out n backs.
2) The video was taken only 2 or 3 rides after first running. It was about 10 seconds too slow at this time. Now, it is running faster than the design speed and is absolutely full of airtime.
3) Coaster enthusiasts that have ridden Thundercoaster are saying it is easily the best woodie in Europe and that the second drop is the best drop on any woodie in the world!

I'm one of the lucky ones who have actually tried this ride, and I can tell you right now that this is a WILD ride! Drop 2 is just breathtaking! It's holding a high speed all through the ride, and you are weightless 12 times during the ride!!
Best wooden roller coaster I have ever tried!

I have been riding it a lot, and I can tell you. During the ride you are weightless 12 times. Now they have build a steelcoaster that rank up amongst the 10 best rides in the world. Speedmonster.
