Jazzland to add Vekoma SLC in 2001

Posted Friday, November 17, 2000 11:55 PM | Contributed by RagingBull

Jazzland will add a typical Vekoma suspended looping coaster for its 2001 season. The ride will be located by the Zydeco Scream (Boomerang coaster).

There not so bad. They are moderately thrilling, if done right with good track and trains, and they are about 5 million dollars cheaper than a B&M of compareable size.

Everybody calm down, the coasters do not open for another fifteen minutes.

i hate everything about vekomas slc i always hurt my shoulders there ia also head banging and the thrill factor is minimal
that being said the general public likes them and they pay the bills. i mean who in lousiana has a ridden a B&M to compare
from a business stand it makes sense to save the 5 million and not buy B&M but im my opinion if the design of the seats and harnesses aren't changed why waste your time or money

sorry to be so negative

No need to worry. The new Vekoma SLC's are all very smooth and this one should be too.

This is my homepark and I hope this ride will be great. This ride is going to flying through woods at speeds of 50mph. Have anyone heard of the SLC named Kong well this one will be bigger.

Crazydave87: I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but a standard Vekoma SLC will be exactly the same as about 20 other Vekoma SLC's worldwide. Kong included. I HIGHLY doubt that this Jazzland SLC will be any bigger. Maybe a foot or two, but that's about it.

Being new, however, it will most likely be a very smooth and fun ride.

If Vekoma would put the wheel assembly from the Invertigo's on and lose the grooved ear pads they could have something.

On the website they sayed it will be at least a half a mile(2,500 feet) it will be bigger than Kong by 300 feet. People are saying the new Vekomas are smooth so I hoping this will be.

"Half-mile" looks and sounds better in a newspaper article than "2,172 feet in length." It gives readers a better point of reference to judge in their own minds how long of a ride to expect. Trust me, the SLC is one of the most carbon copied rides on the planet, Jazzland's will be the same.

I find them to be pretty good rides, but lacking in originality.

First, Kennywood is not getting a SLC, the tallest one is the one at Morey's Piers at 115ft. The Great Noreater is one wild ride over a waterpark. And Jazzland is dying a quick death. They need to reload there marketing plan of action. You better hope they add more than a SLC for next year.

Word in the industry is that the park is not living up to its revenue potential. Nice park, but built in a not so nice part of town. They just need to get families to convention, and locals to be repeat visitors. Struggling like when Magic Mountain opened years ago. Just needs some acceptance into the community. It takes time.

jazzzland is a cute little park its well designed and well themed it should be up there w/ IOA. but i don't think a big park will touch it w/ a ten foot pole because look @ visionland world class coaster but all the parks are looking at it but the debts are keeping them away.
