I work 5 minutes from the place. Let's just say this, this mall has a troubled 12 year history. If they can pull it off, I'll be highly surprised.

Sorry I got a little excited. I only live about 5 minutes from Forest Fair Mall. By the way do they know what kind of coaster it's going to be? Hopefully like the one in Edmonton Mall in Canada.

I wouldn't get any hope up quite yet. It's a strong possibility that it could be nothing more than a kiddie coaster. On the other hand, it could be something a little larger like RoadRunner Express at SFO. Not knowing the mall, it's difficult for me to speculate, but I wouldn't expect anything taller than 15-20 feet.

I think you've pegged it ShiveringTim. NAMCO owns Time Out Funcenter Arcades. Their expertise is not real heavy in the ride dept.,unless you can drop a token in it to start it. Sounds like the management co. is probably cutting them a deal.

Actually something like RR Express would EASILY fit in the area that was referred to in the article. I just can't see something like an Arrow looper going in. Seems too big. To give you an idea about the ride types the mall had before, here's a small list of rides that were in operation (as of yesterday, everything has closed in this area for the renovation). They had a carosel, 6 tub ferris wheel (hot air balloon shaped), bumper cars, 3 spin rides for the younger set, and a jungle jim environment. In addition to this in the area were an arcade (Time Out), miniature golf course, and a second run movie theater.

I REALLY have my doubts about this renovation to the mall, but, maybe they'll make it work. Just don't get your hopes up for a big thrill ride (unless they bust open the roof and send it outside somehow. Desperado anyone? Nah, too many residential neighborhoods around and not enough unused parking areas!)

Oh, and STim, I'd guesstimate about a 50-75 foot ceiling height in the area of question, just to spark conversation....

Maybe I can get some pictures of the renovation to show you what I'm talking about...

Actually the mall looks like it's trying to get itself back together. They are getting a Bass Pro Shop (if you like fishing and hunting), a recording studio, and a Showcase Cinema. I think it's possible that they could get a small coaster like Taxi Jam at PKI or like a Roadrunner Express at SFO. I'd be shocked to see a small looping coaster like Mind Bender a the West Edmonton Mall.
