Parks Near Chicago Other Than SFGAm.

I have seen lists of a lot of them, but I would like to hear from some people around the area where some are and how long it will take to reach them. If you know of anywhere within 4 hours and how long it takes to drive there, please post :)

Well there is Big Chief's Karts and Koasters World which in Wisconsin Dells. (3 hr drive). It really is not a typical amusement park. For the most part the name says exactly what they have. Go Karts and Roller Coasters. They have one Kiddie Coaster called Pegasus, which is very nice for a kiddie coaster. A medium sized coaster called Cyclops which the last drop is the biggest and really packs a punch. You have to be 18 to ride in the back few rows it is so intense. I thoroughly enjoy its intensity. Then there is a nice out and back coaster called Zeus. It is by far the largest coaster they have. If you like airtime this is an airtime machine. And most of the ride is hidden back in the woods. It is a great night ride. I think that they have a wacky worm kiddie coaster as well.

Then there is Santa's Village in Dundee, Il. (1 hr drive). It is a nice kiddie park. It has one major coaster called Typhoon. I have not been on it but it does look wicked.

I believe Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon is within 4 hours. If u didn't know, thats the park that has shivering timbers.

Indiana Beach is 2 and a half hours from Chicago. About 115 miles. It's a great park too, and with the addition of Cornball Express, it's a great idea for a trip this year!

You have to be 18 to ride in the back?! Are you serious? ....See why dont more parks do that? I'd be willing to sign a waiver to get on an insane ride. That'd be a good topic now that I think about it...if you knew a ride was so intense that there was a chance you'd get hurt, would you sign a waiver to ride?

Go to the roller coaster data base (www.rcdb.co) and type in your zip code. It gives you a long list of parks and how many miles it is to them.

I have gotten to CP within i don't know maybe 4 to 5 hours from my uncles in chi town. if that helps

About Big Chief's back of train policy, I think it is to keep a bunch of kids out of there for other people to enjoy. I think they are just discriminating. I hope when I go this summer that it isn't busy, so maybe the ride-ops will let me go in the back row.

Within 4 hours from Chicago here is my best estimate.
1. SFGAm, Gurnee= 45 minutes(I know you said dont include it but I felt I must)
2. Kiddieland, Melrose Park= 10 minutes
3. Santas Village, East Dundee= 35 minutes
4. Big Chiefs, Wisconsin Dells= 2 hours, 30 minutes.
5. Indiana Beach, Monticello Ind.= 2 hours

Chicago is ~300 miles from Cedar Point, Kentucky Kingdom and King's Island. It takes about 4 hours at 75MPH to get to any of these parks...and before you ask, yes I did the math myself! (Plus I have driven them all and know from experience)

I have yet to get any of these parks in under 6 hours. Mostly due to construction whoes. LOL!

I must be getting lucky when I go. It always takes me about 4 hours to get to any of these parks. We'll see tonight when I head to CP. ;)
