My guess is...They rushed putting the coaster together. Correct me if im wrong someone, but, didnt they have the lift hill done in like a couple of weeks?

They should shut it down for the rest of the season, and have Intamin fix it. Also, they should TELL people it will be closed (unlike Geauga Lake did in '98 when they shut the Serial Thriller down for a month)

I was on that coaster the Saturday it broke down (Not on the actual train). When running this ride is great. I hope they find a way to repair this ride. I love everything about it. Six Flags isn't the same without this ride.
Obviously on this next repair they should take the time to make sure everything is ok. Anymore lift hill breaking and people are really going to question this ride.
Is the Superman in New England having better luck? I here it is a bit better of a ride. I will be there soon.

Ugh... chains break because of weak links. It has nothing to do with the construction or workmanship of the ride. This is, to say the least, just a freak of nature.

Got to Six Flags Darien Lake's Superman: Ride of Steel. It's slightly taller than SFA's and drops right onto a lake. It's the original Superman: ROS. It's the best (though I won't ride SFNE's until August).

I think they should swap names and change it to Jokers Jinx.

Why? Six Flags likes to confuse us.

Superman, I was there Saturday June 17 too. It's funny cause they shut it down on Saturday because of a train problem. Then they turn around the next day and the chain breaks. Is this ride cursed or what? Also, I was one of the lucky few to ride it during the half-hour it was open. What an absolutely awesome ride!!!

I heard that it takes a very long time to order a new chain. My guess is that they just fixed the one that broke in the first place. ALso, there supposed to get another new record breaking coaster next year. Ya think that one will work??

Is it definatly the actual chain itself that broke? Because I was at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay Florida and i was on Montu for the first time a few years ago and the chain lift broke. I mean the motor itself that makes the chain even move. We sat up there for 2 hours. It was an aweful experience, but the ride still kicked loads of ass.So, maybe it wasn't the actual chain. I'm just guessing though. Anything is possible. If the actual chain broke, wouldn't it send riders backwards down the lift? and cause injuries? I have never heard of the actual chain breaking.

Yes, the chain actually broke and fell off the lift into a big old pile of metal on the ground. There are anti-rollback safety catches that will insure the train will not roll all the way back the lifthill. It is impossible for a modern roller coaster to roll back more than a few inches before the anti-rollback systems engage.

Gotta ride 'em all!

Yes, it was the chain AGAIN. The clicking you here going up the lift hill is what keeps the ride from falling backwards down the hill.

Yes, Superman is now open again. (hopefully for the last time) I went on Sunday July 2. The ride was running with both trains on the track. There was only about a five minute wait because it was hot and everybody was in the water park.
