To theme or not to theme?

If parks are going to theme something, should they go all out and completely theme a ride, or just half theme it? At King's Island, I consider everything "half-themed." SOB has something to do with capturing the son. You are a stunt double for a movie when on Drop Zone. AT BGW, say for example, they really go all out when theming. Alpengeist is a run away ski lift and you are really told this through the skiers scattered around the cueue. Is it even worth it to just do a little bit, should parks that just crawl their way through theming even bother? I find it worse to just half do it then to completely do it. This post was not intended to arouse anything against BGW or PKI, they were just examples.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven

I think it depends. If the park has had a history of all-out theming, then sure, why not? But if the park is in need of expanion/coasters/rides, I say half theme it-or don't theme it at all. I don't really agree with half-theming. I think if a park is going spend money trying to theme it, make it like a story or journey (i.e. Dueling Dragons and Alpengeist).

Cedar Point doesn't have any type of theming for rides (aside from the few old time town themes on a few rides) and they do just alright in my mind. IOA has sweet theming but if it didnt have it I don't think it'd matter anyway. Theming is just an added feature, but it doesnt hurt a ride if there isnt any.

I think that half theming is better than no theming. I think that half theming is the best kind of theming. For example, not too much $$$ spent on themes, but just enough.

I perfer walking through a queue that has a moderate amount of theming, but still allows me to see the whole ride. I'd rather see the ride than walk through tunnels and tunnels of themed-madness.
