Small article talks about SF cutting costs. The thing that caught my eye was SF being in talks to open a few parks overseas as well as possibly selling off a few more existing parks.

Looks like they should fix their problems they have before opening more parks. The Middle East? You got a better chance in GAry, IN.

No I don't have a kid, but I still want to ride!

There's not much a chance of anything in Gary.

IF you read the powerpoint that this is from they stated they would sell naming rights, run management for a park and things like that but they wouldnot open the park themselves.

Whats more interesting is in that same powerpoint they mention they got offers for three of the parks from multiple sources. They didnt mention who they were though. They also said they would sell land at gadv and maryland if they had too.

I think they should sell one or two of these considering these are the least attended.

Six Flags America
American Adventures
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
La Ronde
Great Escape

It's time everybody wakes up. What have I been saying all along, soon Great America will be free. Six Flags keeps loosing money, what a surprise. When you raise prices, lower food quaility, remove rides what did they expect? Mouses will do nothing in 2008. Forget about little non profitable parks think what Magic Mountain, Great America, Great Adventure would reduce in their debt, while seling these at a nice profit. I've seen the pomised land and Six Flags is not part of it. Let's start counting the days to freedom from Six Flags!!!

Ronman you forget that the parks were doing pretty well until the accident then everything went down hill and people stopped going. The problem is that the last management left them with a lot of debt and how can you say the food stinks. ITs 20x better then what the last management left with. ID rather pay 9 dollars for say johnny rockets hamburger then 9 dollars for some unknown hamburger thats a hockey puck.

Also gadv would never get sold. IT has too much potential.

The current management has been doing really well. They need time the parks are slowly improving. They arent miracle workers.

We will wake up when you decide to leave fantasyland.

Promised land? Days to freedom? Wow, you truly are a piece of work. I laugh everytime you post something. You have no clue and never will obviously.

I have no numbers, inside information or anything else, but my gut tells me that from a profit perspective, SFKK does very well.

I'm not defending the park's lack-luster operations or condition, but I would guess that if SFKK was an under-performing park, it would've been one of the first parks to be sold. The water park is really quite a draw, and I wouldn't be surprised if most of the capital expenditure budget for SFKK for the next several years goes to nothing but water park improvements/additions.

Somebody show me which Six Flags parks is the big money-loser. Go on.

The problem isn't the profit; it's sufficient profit to service an incredible mountain of debt incurred by the owner before last, if not the one before that.

Waterparks usually don't bring in a lot of people. The lowest waterpark statistic from last year at number 15 was Soak City with 390,000 people. I understand what you are saying. You believe that since they aren't given a lot of capital that they are getting more of a profit because they aren't putting a lot of money into that park. I think it's kind of the opposite. They aren't putting a lot of capital in that park because they aren't getting a profit.

Isn't SFKK one of those parks with that really long lease? That could be a huge problem of why it's not sold yet. I might also say who would want that park? PARC was smart enough to not want that park.

Who said that least attended equals least profitable? More people went to Geauga Lake than go to Waldameer. Who's still standing?

For the 2008 season, SFKK is getting rid of the ride that chopped a guests feet off and adding something called a Wedgie?

Nice. That's a way to run a park. Sell the thing... before the company figures out nobody is going to go next year and it will lose millions.
