I know this is a very dumb question. But where was the first coaster to have two loops? Also what was the first modern coaster to have a loop? Thanks
I don't know about a double loop, but wasn't the first modern coaster to have a loop (not a corkscrew) MM's Revolution?
------------- Oh the good old days... when superheros were superheros and coasters were coasters...
Can't be sure without my handy Guide to Ride at hand, but I *think* the first coaster with two loops was at Six Flags Whatever, back in its Geauga Lake days... Corrections to my faltering memory welcome.

I think you're right. If I remember correctly, Double Loop at SFWOA was the first to have 2 vertical loops.

Double Loop at SFWoA
Thats right, Double Loop at Geauga Lake. Built in 1977, Double Loop features two, count em, TWO back to back loops and 1800 feet of track. Designed by the BEST coaster design Company around, ARROW DYNAMICS of Clearfield Utah.
I thought the first was SHOCKWAVE at SFOT!
what bout that ride at circus circus in las vegas. i know it has double loops and am almost positive it broke some record with those loops. i bet it is that ride ------------- "When I'm dead & in my grave, No more pot & whiskey will I crave, On my tombstone it shall be seen. I believe you are referring to Canyon Blaster? It opened in 1993, after dozens of coasters had those inversions. I thought maybe it was the first indoor coaster to have 2 vertical loops, but nope that would be the Mindbender in Canada.
Conner, you were close! Shockwave was one year later. ------------- - Peabody
I always thought that the corkscrew at KBF was the first with 2 inversions, but the Revolution at SFMM was the first with a vertical. The new generation of looping coasters all came out around the same time though.
JanFrederick, you are correct. Corkscrew KBF 1975- First modern inverting coaster Revolution SFMM 1976- First modern Vertical Loop Double Loop Geauga Lake 1977- First with 2 vertical loops Corkscrew CP 1976 - First with Corkscrew and Vertical and so on, and so on....

There has always been a debate between Double Loop at SFWoA and Shock Wave at SFoT but Shock Wave opened in 1978. Double Loop was 1977.
