Cedar Point Ballroom

Does Cedar Point use the Ballroom above the arcade for anything?

It's used for special events, as well as some Ride Operations training/offices. If you work in rides, you'll go there to process-in (since the office is WAY too small for all that).

^Maybe for the very beginning of the season, but my training wasn't done up there.

I don't know if they still do, but they used to hand out paychecks to workers up there as well.

Neither one was the case when I worked their in '05.

They use to have conventions in it.
Going back to like, 1978 or so, I was there for a convention for NE Ohio UMYF event (UMYF United methodist Youth Fellowship) tht lasted a whole weekend. I was at the last event the UMYF had their. Oddly, the stairs leading out of the building collapsed that weekend.

There are a lot of high school proms up there... high school reunions too...

I picked up my checks there most of the time when I worked there in 1999, 2000, 1nd 2006.

It's said to be haunted, by the way.

^And Ive always thought that the ballroom would make one killer haunted house as well (with a false floor to protect the real one obviously.)

The old Blue Streak lapbars, seatbelts and blue seat pads are up in there too. RIP.

Company training is done in there. Hildebrandt also has an escape hatch that leads from his office into the ballroom.

Coastermania Q & A is always up in there too.

I was in the arcade, along with my brothers, playing a game facing the kiddie land side exactly when the collapse occurred. There was a loud creeking, followed by a loud thundering crash, as the bodies fell before our eyes.

I can't remember how many people were actually on the stairs, or balcony, at the time, but it seemed like a lot. It only lasted seconds, but seemed to move in slow-motion at the time.

Pretty wild stuff for a 13 year old.
