Random CP Question

Can you access the beach at CP if you do not enter the park. For instance, I pay for parking at CP. I want to have lunch at Famous Dave's then I want to walk over to the beach. Is this possible?

Personally I don't see why not. However if you call Cedar Point they will be more than happy to answer your question.

Yes, I believe so. We walked out of the park and onto the beach, and into that Hotel near the park. You have to pay for parking though.

Sure you can. You can park in the main lot up front, walk around by the marina gate to Famous Daves, then move the car around back to the Soak City lot and walk by Challenge Park and Hotel Breakers to the beach. I guess you could park in the Breakers lot too to get even closer to the beach.

May I mention that a walk on the beach around the trail by Magnum's pretzel is a very fun walk to take at night right before the park closes.

You can't park in the Breakers lot unless you are staying at Breakers.

The easiest way to walk on the beach is to park in the Soak City Lot. Then you can walk past the Magnum entrance, along side the Breakers and to the beach. Thanks to WT, you cannot walk down the beach to the beach entrance from the Main Lot (its fenced off.)

I think that Famous Dave's gives a parking credit if you dine there (but not the $0.50 toll). That's what I use to do in years past.

Couldn't you theoretically get free parking at Cedar Point if you dine at Famous Dave's during your park visit?

If you don't already have a season parking pass. That sounds like a great idea. It's a very good reason to eat there if it's true.

I believe its time stamped, and if the parking ticket isnt less then say 2 hours old you dont get the comp, and the comp is also time stamped so if you arent out of the lot by a certain time you dont get the comp.

Cool, thanks. Also, you said the comp didn't include a toll. When I was there over the summer there was no toll. Unless I am crazy and we blew off the toll. But where is said toll booth located?

The toll is included in the parking price. You don't pay at a separate booth.

OOOOOhh. Ok. Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was like the Chicago Skyway, where you pay for using the road on one side, then you pay for the bridge on the other side. :)

Well I'm not sure, I think so. But there are some ways of accessing Cedar Point without paying. But big brother is big around there. Had some friends find out the hard way.

The beach is actually pretty nice. One of the nicer lake beaches I've been to. It's a little shallow to swim in though when I was there a few summers ago. (Although I'm sure you won't be swimming this time of year.)

And J7G3, your signiture. Tell me you got that from a roller coaster video from the mid 90's. I got a video for my birthday one year and I remember Ron talking about coasters and bending a wire into a loop. He also gives a play by play of Magnum. Man that was my favorite video when I was a kid! Classic.

Maybe they changed the parking policy in the last several years. But, I'm almost positive three years ago (and the several seasons prior) we ate at Breakwater Cafe for dinner and got our parking subtracted from our meal. There couldn't have been time stamps because we arrived before park opening and ate at Breakwater for dinner (like 7pm). I remember using the savings off the bill to convince my friends to eat there. ha ha!! So, conceptually, we received free parking - or just a discounted meal.

That's been my experience too. Unless something changed recently, I've never been aware of a time restriction on those parking tickets. I know on several occasions I paid for parking first thing in the morning then used the parking ticket at dinner, and left when the park closed.

And just to clarify. You will have to drive around to the Soak City lot. You cannot walk from Famous Dave's to the beach (without going through the park) as pedestrians are not permitted on Perimeter Road.

We've parked in Breakers' lot before when not staying at Breakers. We were going to eat at TGI Friday's.
