PKI Kids Areas... I never appreciated them

I never really appreciated how great they were until this past weekend. I realized then that with the new expanded area and new rides, there is enough in HB and NICK to keep your kids happy for the whole day. Not only that, but the theming of both areas has become high quality. Wild Thornberrys and Reptar are great examples of that, but it can be seen throughout the other attractions as well.

It was when I was standing in line for Reptar around a bunch of little kids and their parents, knowing that they were seriously excited and nervous, and then realizing that I was just as excited as they were, that I realized that these areas are just as valuable to the park as an Action Zone, maybe more so.

I feel the exact same thing Jacob. PKI would be more than successful as a kiddie park, but they are more than successful because they're a family parks. Something many parks have been ignoring for a little too long. The little kids get 4 coasters and the big kids get 9 coasters and can still be just as happy riding the kiddie coasters. We make sure to ride Beastie and RRR on every single trip. I think the biggest thing PKI needs to do is expand their ideas on shows. This year, I can't say I'm too happy with any of the 5(yes 5!) so far. Hopefully they can do this while they're getting ready to build the best coaster in the World. :)

Yeah, PKI has done something very special with their "children's" areas. I see just as many adults and teens having fun in those areas as kids. PKI has set a standard for amusement parks that I think all parks should follow.

I have always enjoyed Hanna Barbera Land. The Beastie provides some air if you pick the right seat. (can`t remember which!) I always ride the Beastie, but Runaway Reptar is a fun coaster that I enjoyed and have wnated to ride it again. I also enjoy the Wild Thornberrys River Adventure. This once fun ride is now even more fun, with the coconuts, mist and surprise ending (if its functing properly!) I think that Paramount`s Kings Island has remained dedicated to the whole family, keeping their kiddie areas nicely landscaped, painted, and themed. At the same time they have been providing world class thrills. IMO, PKI is the ultimate family park, but I may be biased as I live in Cincinnati and have only been to Cedar Point (`99), PKD (`00) and Kentucky Kingdom (`96 or `97)
