Ok, everybody is talking about trick track on Shockwave at PKD and KC at PKI, such as trick track on Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure. WHERE ON THE RIDE IS THERE TRICK TRACK. I have ridden KC once before but I have ridden Shockwave at PKD over 30 times and I have never experienced trick track where the train shifts from left to right or opposite quickly. Where is the trick track, after what. There is the lift, the turn, the drop, the loop, then it goes into spirals downward and then there is bunny hills and then a turn and then a few more hops, then the hard brakes back to the station. I don't remember any trick track. IF there is, just state what it's after and what is after it. Thanks.

At 5'8" my frame isn't big enough to have a problem with the restraints on Togo trains. I just find them uninteresting to ride.

As much as anything it boils down to pacing. This is what also sets B&Ms and Intamins apart. B&Ms and Intaimins have marvelous pacing. They hit an excellent balance between anticipation and activity. On a Togo you are always waiting for something to happen. On an SLC things happen so quickly that it is all one blur. On Alpengeist or the Hulk, the pacing is terrific.

I don't think any real roller coaster fan can hate a roller coaster.......let's just say strongly dislike. I have only ridden togo standups, and i can't say i enjoyed them much.

The trick-track eveyone is talking about on the TOGO's stand-ups is the part after the bunnyhop. The train then "leans" to the left on a straight away piece of track.

TOGO sucks, just look at Viper at SFGA no one rides it and if they do they come off of it looking like they got into a fight.

Hmm, about that trick-track:
I admit I've only ridden Shockwave 3 or 4 times, including once 3 weeks ago, but I don't remember a trick track.

I think PKD's Shockwave is missing the trick-track -- been a *long* time since I've been there to remember though.

Other than that, it's a mirror image of PKI's King Cobra I think, with all the turns reversed.

Dunno about the orientation and trick-track-ness of the other early Togo stand-ups.

I'm pretty sure KC is the world's first stand-up... built in Japan and then moved to PKI, I think? Has anyone else other than Intamin/B&M even made one?

King Kobra was built in the USA, and was the first standup to feature an inversion. There were other standups before. Yes, TOgo has built MANY standups in Japan.

As for other companies, none that I can think of, but two Arrow coasters were retrofitted with standup trains for a while. There were 2 near identical mine trains at SFSTL, and one was run as a standup for a year. But, a large woman was tossed from the train and died. The trains were changed back. Also, the Arrow corkscrew that used to be at Worlds of Fun operated with standup trains for a while.

I have only riden two of TOGOs Coasters Viper at SFGA and Manhtten exspess in las vegas and i think they both need restrainets! i mean what is with teh Lap Bar and harnest it makes it harder to load in the staion becuase you have to pull down the lap bar then hold down the harnest until they lock the train and its anoying and if somone isent locked right on ur train u have to do the while thing all over i only ridden ME once and it was really rough and i hit my neck in alot of the turns. and it hurt my shoulders a lil while hanging upside down. but onto Viper at SFGA i rode this over 100 times since its been there and it has always been rough! its a bad ride and should be hit with a recking ball! i love all coasters i am happy with anything as long as i get a thrill but viper dose not even do that. it just bangs you around alot it hits eather ur neck or jaw and the turns are to tight! and fast tight turns makes alot of body motion. i mean the drop is good but when ur at the top turning to go down ur not even banked there for ur head gets pressed to the right side of the harnest before u drop then you go into the 1st inversion and u just hang up there for about 3 secs. but the way the harnest are desighed u lean in them to much and all ur body weight is being pushed into ur shoulders and the harnest arent very padded so you get ur shoulders banged there then at the barel roll at the end and the turn at the end wich gives you bruced shoulders! and a bad jaw ache or neck ache no one likes this ride at SFGA only the unfirmiliar ride it and then hate it after that as well the seats arent comfortabel and it just plain hurts. with a decent ride restrainet the ride would be a decent 28 sec ride

Hey Peabody, I remember when SFStL had their stand up. At the time I was too small to have ridden it, but I really wanted to. I remember all the hype about standing up back then, and it probably still exists with most of the SFStL general public. If I remember correctly the track that the current mine train runs on was the one that they tried the stand up on. The other station was to the right (as your entering the que) where they made the haunted house years ago. That mine train track was the first coaster I ever rode, other than the typical "kiddie" ones.

Back to Togo, the only one I've ever ridden was KC. It was my first stand up so it was exciting my first time. I always ride it once when I visit PKI, but rarely twice. I've never had problems with the rstraints, although I've put on some pounds so this summer will be the test. I definately don't HATE the ride though. Rarely a line, short ride time, semi thrilling. I put it in a category along with Mine Trains, a little rough but come on, if you like coasters how can you HATE it. I'm also hitting Vegas this summer so I'll get to try out ME.
