Chris sawyer has sued atari for unpaid royalties. Read all about it here.......

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

God only knows why he don't sue them for killing the rct series.

Welcome to Big Corporation takes over an established product and make sure that original owner doesn't have creative controls. So that means if he didn't spell out thatose things in the contract with Atari he can't sue for any percieved damage to the series. All he can sue for is what he was promised in the contract.

Watch the tram car please....

Does this mean there won't be a RCT4?

I've yet to hear anything about a RCT4 but, I don't think the series is dead. Sure, the game was not on the same plain but, when you go to sites that upload/download tracks and stuff, RCT3 is second only to No Limits. Plenty of people still use it to design rides and themes even if they don't enjoy the gameplay as much.

Yeah, I thought so too. He sued them back in 2005.

Unless it means that his case is going to court now.

"What we do in life, echos in eternity." Top 3 Wooden Coasters: Voyage, Thunderhead, The Raven. Top 3 Steel Coasters: Griffon, Magnum XL-200, Apollo's Chariot. 100th coaster: Voyage

Why people do that is beyond me. Designing coasters in RCT's grid scheme is almost as terrible as the game play itself.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

If theirs already one in the develpmant stage then I doubt that they would just stop it. They would finish RCT4 then stop the series.

Apparently it's still going through the UK courts. I hope he wins, if for no other reason than the developer and publisher ruined the franchise.

Yeah, but didn't he give/sell/yield control of the franchise to Atari? If that's so, he can't complain about that. As for the other things, he has a legitimate beef.

I would love to see Chris Sawyer go back and do more work for RCT2. It's still a very fun game to play and doesn't have the technical hangups like RCT3. Maybe he could make the expansion packs that were meant to be made for the game and not what Atari slapped together for their cash grab. I would love to see some great new flat rides and the latest coaster styles and track additions to current track styles.

Yeah I think if 4 would be like the realism and SF stuff (SFMM is impossible for me too beat like in real life) in RCT2 and then the ability to ride your own rides like in 3 it would be awsome.

Maybe Shapiro should play the SFMM scenario in RCT2?

^^ I'm with you, I think that RCT2 is the high point of the series thus far. It takes the good stuff from RCT and adds to it, but doesn't have any of the problems of RCT3. And call me old-fashioned but I still prefer to build in 2D- the way I design, it gives me a lot more freedom because it imposes more boundaries... if that makes sense!?

I agree.

I still play rct2 more than any game that I have. At the same time, my rct3 is collecting dust.
