Who has been to Indiana Beach

Since the motto for this park is "There is more than just corn in Indiana", I was wondering if its worth the drive from the Chicago area to visit this park? I would bring my daughter with me who just hit 48 inches tall so she can probably ride all of there coasters. IB is a really nice traditional park, some have said it's like a Knobels on a lake. Great selection of dark and flat rides, and a few fun coasters. Hoosier Hurricane was a little disappointing, especially after just having ridden the other Indiana CCI(Raven) at Holiday World, but it's worth a few spins. Just don't expect the extreme airtime or laterals you find on today's CCI's. IB definitely has the charm and atmosphere of a well maintained lakeside park, and the setting is beautiful. Ride the Yo-Yo, it's set right on the lake, the chairs fly right over the water. I'd say it's worth the drive if you've never been, if you can appreciate traditional parks for what they are, and not expect huge thrill rides like those found at major theme parks.

I was there with my wife a couple weeks ago, and we quite enjoyed it. Good old fashioned fun. I agree with Draco's description - very pretty, traditional boardwalk-type park, the opposite of a corporate themer. It has three coasters - it's true, the Hoosier Hurricane isn't very intense, but it's in a beautiful setting (right over the lake) and is still enjoyable. And the Swarkzkopf Jet Star - the Tigg'r coaster - is quite fun and unique. It has several dark rides, which we love, including one of the new interactive "shoot 'em ups" and a very big, fairly scary walk-through haunted house (you don't see many of these around anymore). A few flat rides, a mid-size space shot, cruises on the lake, that crazy Yo-Yo (it really caught me by surprise) and a neat little water park including "the country's longest action river". Free parking, with tickets for rides or a P.O.P. wristband for $20-. The park is in the middle of a resort area, so there are dozens of motels minutes away.

I agree with everyone. IB is a great park. It is not little by any stretch of the imagination and boasts some really excelet flat rides. Watch out for the Yo-Yo and the double shot, they really are suprising. Try to get there on a weekday and make shure you park in the south lot as from there you enter over the bridge and avoid the messier area near the northern entrance. The Hossier Huricane many not be as intense as the more recent CCI rides, but is does pack its own unique twist. I was just there a little over a week ago.
