^^ "In" Denver might have been inaccurate...*on the Denver trip*, that's more like it...we went there on our way to Santa's Workshop. Actually it's in Colorado Springs.

Funny thing about rcdb and mountainous terrain....drives take longer than you might expect... ;)

Rob....could the OTHER Pier closing be Funtown? It's starting to bug me, and I can't remember...oh, and Adventure City indded rocks - one of my favorite mice ever... :)

Joyrides is in Colorado Springs, not Denver, Billybob. Remember, near those awesome flyers? ;)

^ Meh, post faster, LOL....

With four of us there who really didn't know how to snap too well, those flyers showed lots of *potential*, but not enough *performance*....if not for PPP, I'd still be lamenting all the flyers I unsuccessfully rode this year.

Dude, the North Pole flyers snapped just climbing into them. ;) *** Edited 11/13/2006 4:20:08 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

I don't think Adventure City is outright closing.. I was under the impression that it's sister-business Hobby City was closing, but Adventure City would remain open until they found a buyer to keep it open?

Edit: typo. I need to learn to re-read my posts before saving. :)

Here is how I understand the AC situation...

Adventure City is owned by two people, a father and a son. The father is selling out, but the son doesn't want to. As far as I know, the sale of the land is just about final, but they expect to operate until it is final. I've met the son (he pretty much runs the park) and he is upset that is dad sold out. I'll try and get more official information. The place is FAR from a dump, and is a very good environment for a family outing.

They are dropping like flies, which makes you appreciate the small mom and pop parks that are still open, doing well, and/or hanging on by a thread.

That just goes to show you that we should all support these small parks as much as we can!

I hate to see ANY park close its doors. :/

Out of all the parks listed closing in 2006, how many of those did gator visit in 2005?

I'm with you coasterqueen.

It is sad, and I believe we as coaster enthusiast's have more influence on other thrill seekers accross the country and planet then we know. I'm not sure how many people this site has encouraged to visit an amusement park, but I bet it's alot. I think owners of parks should stop spending money if it is not neccessary so the park can stay a float or get ahead. I'm just flapping my lips, but we don't see whats happening behind closed doors.

Ask not what you can do for a coaster, but what a coaster can do for you.

I can count about seven of them he visited, Bear. :)

I WISH I would of visited Erieview when I had the chance.

I had no idea Pocono Play Park closed. :(

I am glad to see Camden Park is NOT on that list when it could of been just a few years ago. With all the improvements and support they have received I don't expect to see them axed anytime soon.

Scandia is still owned by the family... but they are doing very well and want to eventually add on a waterpark if everything works out.

I found out that Adventure City will not close until the end of the summer 2007 if it does indeed close.

Maybe the next thread should be, "Closed parks that I didn't visit when I had the chance, but should have"!

I had the chance to visit William's Grove last year and I skipped it due to time constraints on a trip. I'm still kicking myself in the head for that one. I did get to Erieview on their closing weekend this September.

We did Williams Grove a few years back when the rumors of it closing started to get louder. I'm glad we did!

I'm glad I got Williams Grove in '05 too, if only for about 2 hours. Cyclone still ranks as my most hilariously terrifying coaster ride lol. It was like "Wow that was really fun...I'm glad I made it off it alive!"

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
