Rainbow Six

Has anyone ever read this Tom Clancy terrorist/spy novel? I ask because there is a great scene in a book where terrorists take over an amusement park in France. They capture a bunch of kids of some political leaders and hold them hostage in the "Castle" in the middle of the park. I've always wondered what would happen if something like this happened in the United States. Do parks have evacuation plans that can be activated in an emergency?

Another neat part of this scene is when a sniper getting in place to take out the terrorists actually rides a roller coaster up to the top of the 300-400 foot tall hill (the book is set in the future) and they stop the coaster at the top and he gets out and positions himself on the catwalk at the very top.

I can't wait for this to be made into a movie (although it will be a few years before that because the movies are 3 books behind the books) I can't wait to see which park and which coaster are chosen to film this scene.

I've read Rainbow Six. I found the 150 meter(yes meters) inverted coaster to be a bit much.

I thought it was a bit much also....But you never know what crazy ideas will become reality in the future.

I always loved "One day at Horror Land" by R.L. Stine. I loved it even before I became a coaster enthusiast, and my guess as to why that is, is because of the park aspect of it. I guess I've always been a coaster nut... :)

I've also read Rainbow Six. Are you sure it's set in the future? Wasn't the premise of the book based around the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney Australia? I think it is, therefore the time setting has already passed. Unless people really did do what happened in the book and mad cow disease is really some biological agent released at the Olympics but just now starting to spread. Uh-Oh. Anyway I liked the idea in the book where after the first drop it pulled up and mortars fired up like the Stuka had just dropped bombs. Sweet idea.
