King's Island's Paramount theming?

Will the Italian Job, Tomb Raidor, and Top Gun theming be changed because of Cedar Fair buying the park? I ask this mainly because IJ and TR wouldn't be as exciting rides without all their theming, IMO. If you know anything about this please share your info.

I believe the deal is still being worked. I haven't heard anything about the use of theming yet.

I would keep the theming, but the names would go. The name Xcelerator would easly fit for the Italian Job, but that won't happen. By the way, I rode that coaster last week for the first time and it's a really cool attraction. It's something the whole family can enjoy and portrays a wild mouse on steroids! :)

I would expect all the naming except Nickelodeon to go. It would be a waste to pay for the names when you could easily rename them into something similar. Italian Job is some sort of high speed police chase. That's not too hard. Tomb Raider is some sort of Indiana Jonesesqe temple adventure. That's not so bad either. It would be a surprise if they kept it.

Put it this way, As a local, I hope all the movie crap goes. Only two rides they've tried live up to what could be holiwood themed. IJST and FOF and FOF isn't even licenced to a show anymore.

Well, it still ALMOST references the show. The audio that plays at the unload station goes something like this: "And now you know what it feels like to travel to the edge of th-"

Top Gun was originally going to be called Thunder Road. Maybe go with that, but call it Thunder Jet. Then remove all designated names of each section off the park guide maps, and replace the Happy Days name plate from that restraunt in the back with Coasters Diner.

This keeps coming up over and over, and people seem to forget that the parks essentially "changed hands" when Viacom split off CBS Corp. There are licensing deals already in place. It would be silly to ditch them if they're either paid for or they're enforce for some given amount of time.

^ I think people are a little confused by the "re-theming" done to GL when it switched hands...this is NOT the same kind of deal, and as Jeff said, I doubt ANY theming changes will need to take place. The licensing deals are generally pretty long-term, and CF in ALL likelihood has negotiated (and paid) to keep them intact.

I've heard from a somewhat reliable source that all of the movie-tie ins will be changed but better yet, they won't be recycling any of the names already being used in CF parks!

When does the actual changeover occur? Usually you are able to use your season pass from the group buying the park the moment it is announced that the buyer is buying. . .

That's what happened a few years back when Six Flags Ohio was procured by Cedar Fair. You could gain entry to SFO/Geuga Lake almost immediately after the announcement.

For instance, when can I use my Cedar Point pass to go to PKI?

That will be an AMAZING DAY, indeed. . .

^Not until next year, the sale went though a lot later then the SFO/GL deal.

I wouldn't call that a case of re-theming, I would call it a case of un-theming... and it's for the better in the long run.

The paramount sale to CF isn't even finallized but a agreement has been reached.

The securities and exchange commission just voted not to block the sale on the deal. Im sure there are still a couple other things that have to be cleared or agreed too before the 1.25 billion is handed over to CBS.

It is clear however that CF has secured the funding to make the purchase.

It's not a done deal but in handshake terms its a go.

It would be nice if true theming would return to the park..........you know, where each section has an actual theme to it............Ah forget it, CP is worse than Paramount was when it comes to that.

I wonder if the name "Paramount" will still be aloud to be used at all the parks, i know my homepark, PCW, has the paramount name branded so hard into that park it isn't funny.
