Kennywood Question

Do any of you know of a campground in the Kenywood area? Thanks in advance, I did not notice one listed on kennywood.com however.

There are campgrounds in the Laurel Highlands and near Erie, I think there's one to the north, near Pymatuning.

good question, Actually, I'd be interested in good state park/forest campgrounds nearbye since I do tent camping and do not really want to share a parking lot full of RVs.

Kennywood is smack dab in the middle of suburbia Pittsburgh. The campgrounds that Kennywoodfan is referring to is quite a distance from the park (Laurel Highlands - 90 min.; Pymatuming and Lake Erie - 2+ hrs.) There are no campgrounds anywhere near the park.

If you plan on an overnight stay, I would suggest hotels.

Heck, not only in the middle of suburbia Pgh, but right in the vicinity of RUN-DOWN suburbia Pgh. I wouldn't want to be camping out in some of those neighborhoods ;) (Give me a break, I can be critical, I live 10 minutes from the park, on Beechwood Blvd :) )

Actually, I am fine with camping some distance from the park. I plan on making a camping trip/amusement park visit type of deal some upcoming weekend (I'll make it long weekend). Need to find some nice state parks/forests to check out that would be on the way to Kennywood.

millrace, depending on which location you are coming from, my recommendations are Morain State Park, Cooks Forest or McConnell's Mills (all north of the city) there also is Conneaut Lake which has it's own little amusement park with a wonderful classic woodie, which is about a 90 minute drive from Pittsburgh. Or southeast of the city, is Ohiopyle and the Laurel Highlands. If you go to experiencepa.com, they have some helpful resources.

Is there a campground on Neville Island? It seems like I've heard of one there.

Ugh, no... Neville Island is like industry central. Some power plants, water treatment sites, ect... Trust me, don't camp there!
