I thought a mechanical engineer would see the importance of all of the rigid triangles in the track structure and see that the track isn't going to warp.
An interesting thing about the spiral... the train seems to turn around an axis that centers on what I assume would be its center of gravity, end to end. In other words, when it goes up the spiral, it isn't pulling the track in any particular direction, it is only being guided by the track. From that standpoint, I don't think that the track is enduring any extreme stress.
As far as being smooth, the Intamin wheel assemblies by nature are going to keep the wheels hugging the track, so I don't see why it would ever get rough.
