Bye Bye Visionland...

...Hello Alabama Adventure. Today the park announced they are changing their name. They also announced their summer concert series and some of their future plans for the park including RV Campground, an animal park, A hotel w/ indoor water park, among others.

I guess the park's old Mascot, The Optometrist, will be relegated to the Island of Misfit Mascots...Sexual Harrassment Panda was becoming a lonely panda... ;)

Yikes, you scare poeple starting off with Bye Bye (what ever park). Include Hello Alabama Adventure in the title. Visionland has been struggling to survive for some time. Hopefully a brighter future comes with a new name. Too bad they can't get their drop tower back.

Applause! I think it's a good move. The name "Visionland" never really grabbed me.

Rc-madness they still have half of their drop tower combo, so all was not lost to Lake Compounce.

Alabama Adventure, featuring the all new "Soarin' Over Alabama." Any chance that Rampage gets renamed "Alabama Screamin'?" ;)

Won't it take time to see if it breaks out of the "regional" park grouping to become a "destination"? I would think it would take more than a name change and adding some attractions. But and indoor waterpark resort is definently the right direction.

Good that they changed the name though, Visionland never captured my attention, (and really never made much sense either). But Rampage...what a coaster from what I've seen, and heard.

They still have half their drop tower? How is the new log ride? Didn't they get a new log ride?

Their "new" log flume is simply the old flume rebuilt and with new lift conveyor belts. The layout is identical. And yes, they still have the Space Shot side of their tower. I believe the Turbo Drop side was sold to another park (was it sold to Lake Compounce?) after being repossessed by S&S, but I'm not entirely sure who purchased it. *** Edited 3/28/2006 11:23:03 PM UTC by Ben Nelson***
