I would wager that will be taken care of before 2009.

Starting next year, then watch out for 2007.

Well from what I heard about Stone Mountain is that the park and locals will let HFEC do very little with the actual park. They don't want it to be a "theme park" and yada yada.

Tekno, that's exactly what I am talking about. ;)

I'm aware of the hostility towards the Herschends' ideas for development of Stone Mountain. The "Don't let Silver Dollar City turn Stone Mountain into an amusement park" thing was way overblown by local business owners and the Atlanta newspapers.

The problems I had were with how bad the park itself looked. The attractions (train ride, gondola, riverboat, etc) were in horrible shape, the grounds were dirty, etc. The Crossroads area was nice, but other than that it looked like some run-down city park.

I'm not sure they own all that much of Stone Mountain though. I know they own Crossroads and the Great Barn, but I think a lot of the rest of the park IS city-owned and that's probably why it looked like a "city park". ;)

vacoasterfreak, you make it sound like it is sooooo far away. ;) It would be worth it. :)

Back from DollyWood--home of the DOUBLE G................forces. ;)

'Twas a bit chilly, but a fun weekend getaway indeed, with good coasters, good eatin's and best of all, GREAT people. Several of us stopped for lunch at the original KFC in Corbin, KY on the way back. That was a nice topper to the weekend.

Speaking of Gamecocks....

How 'bout my Tigers and their come from behind and BEATING those Cocks. What happened S. Carolina? It was like they didn't come out after halftime. Had lots of fun in Shreveport. The Horsehoe Casino is awesome!!!
