SFA in April

I am planning on going to Six Flags America this April when my university has an extended weekend, does anyone know if the lines for an AprilSunday will be that bad, and if there are any rides (besides the typical water rides/hurricane harbor) that may not yet be open for the season?

SFA may not even make April after Snyder makes his first few "moves".... we'll see..... that land is worth well more than the cash flow the park produces....

Is that according to your careful analysis of the park's financials? (And mind-reading capability of the Six Flags board?)

It'll make it... Who invests tons of money in a new water park then gets rid of it?? I was at Six Flags America in April this past year, and it was well worth it. Well, SFA will probably be around for a few more seasons anyway. The land Values in that area of Maryland are steadily on the rise, but I wouldn't know for sure if it's more than what the park takes in. The thing to remember is that all additions, modifications and upgrades to existing parks this past year were under the old empire. There's a new Sheriff in town now and it looks like he may be shootin' from the hip. Only time will tell.

Its a fun little park. Sometimes the park operation's are not the best. But the ride's are still great. Has a great set of coasters. Don't miss Superman. Or Two-Face, it's different then your average boomerang. Not the best selection of flats. But they manage.

Lines in April at SFA should be short to non-existent. Most of the water rides actually will be open, though TSC may be figgity, though it usually is all year round. Superman and Batwing MIGHT only be running one train in April if 2006 was anything like 2005, though with Snyder at the helm, they may actually push to have all trains on all coasters by opening day, but as of now, don't expect it. IF SFA is adding anything to the dry half of their park, don't expect it to be ready in April, SFA tends to debut new attractions on Memorial Day weekend. Hope that answers your question...

The park was using heaters under the coasters during Fright Fest in October. That kept the coasters like Joker's Jinx running from shutting down when the weather turned chilly. If they do the same thing in early April then there shouldn't be a probably. Even you want a more definite time frame to visit where things should run a little more reliably, I'd visit in late April rather than early April. You stand a better chance of making sure things are running.

It would be during the weekend of April 21-24 (24 being the extra day off for the weekend). Should there be a better chance of most rides running then?

Just go and have a good time! The park has a very nice lineup of rides, so you should have plenty of fun, even if a few are closed, and even if spring break crowds materialize. *** Edited 12/6/2005 3:24:47 PM UTC by Brian Noble***

Hang and Bang is correct. That land is way more valuable with housing than a park. If Dan Snyder goes that path. However, his dis-enchantment with Astroworld's redevelopement may save SFA.

If Snyder wants to cut costs, add SFEG to the hit list.

They are just starting to add more to SFA. I honestly wouldn't look for it to go.

Bottom Line: just go and enjoy it!

SFA is my home park, and maybe that's why I think it is not that good at all. There are some good lines, and not long lines, but the service and the operation is horrible. You cannot go to SFA without either Batman or Superman being broken down at some point, sometimes even both (for the whole entire day!). After going to Cedar point, with the amazingly friendly staff and great operation, and having been to PKD a few times, it is my least favorite park. But I would go to it rather than no amusement park.

Well from what I hear Ultra twister might still be coming in 06 so we can rule out Snyder having any plans to shut down the park anytime soon.

Besides why would he when Hurricane harbor's makeover in 05 was quite a success? & with more HH additions on tap for 06/07 you can bet the park will remain part of the chain for a good long while.

Batwing Fan SFA-What you say is true, but you have to remember that all of these decisions were made prior to the new empire. I hope you are right in that the park will remain for a long time.
