A trend for Paramount Parks

Paramount parks are going away from movie themeing. When they built the first Invertigo it was all over. Drop Zone and Runnaway Reptar and Scooby Doo Maintion are the only attractions to have anything to do with show biz anymore. Look at the newest, SOB, Hypersonic, and Stelth nothing to do with movies. Also the new motion simulartors NOTHING to do with there moves. Wayne's World was taken out at PKD. At PGA they used to play movies themes for music. It made the park feel like a universal studios kinda. Now they play modern music and 80's music [which is awesome!] The whole look of the park isn't like it used to be eithier. Anyone else notice this?

Have you seen the theme on that flume at PKI? If that's not theme with great attention to detail, I don't know what is. It doesn't have to tie into a movie. That's a dangerous proposition when some movies can fade into obscurity.

Regarding Wayne's World, well, I couldn't believe they were still using that. It's not exactly one of the greatest movies of our time (let alone the history of cinema).

Remember, Blockbuster/Viacom/Paramount is a lot more than movies these days. Actually, the use of TELEVISION themes for Nickelodeon Central rather than theming that section after a movie makes a lot of sense. Because television programs are serialized, by their very nature they are likely to, if popular, have a much longer shelf-life...and certainly a much more dynamic existence...than most movies.

Although it wasn't themed to a movie, Face/Off hints to the name and the poster is just on the left of the ride. Action Zone has all kinds of movie posters advertised in it as well as outside the parks entrance. Obviously Nick and Hanna-Barbara are advertised all over that area. I agree Jeff about the WWorld thing. I wasn't too crazy about it, but I do like the name, The Hurler. But I think Paramount is going away from the coasters to movies thing(which I'm surprised as they're the #1 movie company so far 2001). I do like creative names over random movies but all around everything has been though out well. The names and theming aew overall excellent IMO.

Wasn't the name of Stealth only supposed to be a temporary name and they were hoping to attatch the name of Mission: Impossible but Tom Cruise didn't like the idea? This is just what i heard and i'm wondering if anyone else heard this rumor when Stealth opened?

Tom Cruise doesn't have any say... Paramount owns the rights, not Tom...

Paramount: Mr. Cruise we have a new ride coming out called Stealth and we want to switch the name to have something to do with Mission Impossible later in the rides themeing stages if that's alright with you??

Tom Cruise: Hell no I don't want to have to do anything extra for some rollercoaster!!!

Paramount: Alright Mr. Cruise we will leave it at Stealth for you.

Yes, think that it is sad to see this park resorting to other themes then movies, because they are notwhere as good as themes then movies can. I would really like to see some coasters themed to M:I2 not Mission Impossible, that movie was stupid, M:I2 was awesome.

MI2 was terrible and completely ignored the spirit of the first (not to mention the old shows). There was zero psychological element to MI2, nothing made you think. No gadgets either. It was one action sequence after another.

I tend to not like the obnoxious movie posters in the Action Zone at PKI. That area has become a huge concrete ad for movies. It could really use a few "islands" with trees so it doesn't look like a parking lot.

I like Top Gun at PKI, not for the actual ride (which lasts a whopping 56 seconds), but I can always make fun of the shots from the movie that run along the empty line to the station (which is a mile long, probably because they wanted to sell the movie a bit more). My favorite shot from the movie in the line is the poster of Tom Cruise holding his fist in Val Kilmer's face, as if Val were gonna eat out of it or something...

PKI's Phantom Theater foreva' (I'm feeling sarcastic today).
