Good or bad idea?

I am trying to get Dorney park to alow me to have a Diabetes Fundraiser since I have diabetes! I am trying to let me ride the Steel Force 24/7 and let people make donations! I have already asked Hersheypark and Knoebels but they would not alow it! So i am asking for your opinions! Thanks guys yall r the best!

I think it could be good. Hershey is pretty strict, but I would have thought Knoebels would have considered it. Dorney may do it. If they don't try SFA, and get them to let you do it on SROS.

I doubt many parks would be willing to let you do anything 24/7 because it would require extra staffing, high operating costs, and lack of downtime for maintenance.

If it's tied in with the media though, it can be very good PR for the park. Good luck Codis.

You might want to go the route of getting a diabetes foundation to back you on your idea of doing this. By doing that, as thrillerman1 stated, it would generate media attention.

I think since it being your first year maybe try a small park like Morey's Peir or Sea Side Peir. You could ride Great White for a while. Plus it would probably bring busniess to the park . I think its a great idea and good luck with it.

I think first off, you will need to go through an established, registered charity (with all the 501C-3 stuff), particularly if you're talking about collecting money or pledges. I wouldn't blame the parks for being a bit skittish over an individual coming in asking to raise money. Besides, most people would rather donate to a charity than an individual.

What kind of shape are you in healthwise, Codis? Would you be able to handle 24/7 on a coaster for an extended period of time? (Remember the Valleyfair marathon of last month-- and they didn't ride 24/7) I'm sure no park would want you to risk your own health for a fundraiser, no matter how good the cause.

What do your folks think? For sure you'll need their permission in writing, and possibly legal and medical releases.

In theory, it's a good idea and a nice gesture, but unfortunately in today's CYA world, it isn't all that simple.
