Is your hometowner movin up in the world?

Is your hometown traditional park moving up in the world by attempting to give some of the big boys competition.

I've noticed that several small town traditional parks seem to be adding some serious rides this year.

My local park, Lake Winnepausauka in Rossville, GA is adding a L&T designed wild mouse coaster, their second serious coaster since the Cannonball woodie built in the 60's!

The original family has bought the park back and I think that they are doing their best to draw ppl on their way to SFOG and Wild Adventures to stop in for some wholesome hometown southern charm fun!

What about your local traditional park? Any changes going on?

For what it is worth, little Williamsgrove in Mechanicsburg, PA just put in their steel "Wildcat" coaster. From what I could see in a "drive by" this weekend, I do not think they even have paths made to it yet, so not sure how soon it will be up and running. Of course, this was supposed to be an addition for last season, but never materialized until over this winter.

Will this little park ever compete with any of the "big boys"? Not likely. Not even the addition of this over grown "carni-ride" will help. But for as small (and even run down) as it is, its even a wonder it is still in existance with Hersheypark being no more than a half an hour or so to the east and Knoebels being 1 1/2 hours to the north.

My home park is Dorney Park, and I think that it is safe to say that Cedarfair LP is doing there best to make this one of the premier amusement parks in the northeast. They are not doing this by means of adding several coasters and a multitude of flat rides each year, but by slowly adding to the already great collection of rides and amusements the park has to offer. Not only have they done that, but in the process they have made the park much more beautiful landscape wise, by adding gardens, trees, and new paths. New games, restaurants, and stands have been made to further please the guest. Another thing the parent company has done is refurbish rides, and then find new homes for them throughout the park. Overall I must say that I think Dorney has made major leaps and bounds since it was first bought over in the early 90's. I am glad that I can call it my homepark and look forward to next seasons "big announcement." I wonder what could be going on at the edge of the park near Lazer and the dry lake bed? Hmmmm.....

I'm with Greg. Kennywood has a minor adjustment taking place this year.
