I just thought I would share a few Dorney Park updates with those of you who find the park as incredible as I do.
First off, Talon is gorgeous. This was the first time I was actually in the parking lot and starring up at this beautiful creation (I was getting my season pass photo). WOW. As everyone knows the track work has been done for awhile, and the station work is coming along nicely. Without a doubt the coaster will be ready for opening day. All of the pavement work along the edge of the coaster is now finished, except for a large portion over near the Wildwater side. Queue line work is coming along nicely, and almost looks as if it is done. I am very surprised because it doesn't look as if there is much of a line. I guess we will have to wait for the first ride to check that out, but I am imagining this coaster will be very popular. Also, I am one of the lucky people who can say that I actually got to see the trains in motion, and believe me, they get very very very close to the ground. After the sweeping turn, and into the corkscrew, there is going to be a near crash with the ground....absolutely crazy. I couldn't see through the entanglement of steel pillars to check out construction on the other side of the ride, so I can't comment on the photo booth or anything.
As for other happenings at Dorney, something big is going on. I know both I am another poster said something several days ago about activity near the lazer, well, there is even more activity. Yes, there is a crane. Yes, there are things hidden under tarps. Yes, the ground has been excavated. Yes, construction has now wrappen around the old Chester Cheetas Playland spot and is now in the dry lake bed. From the looks of it, if we don't see some big changes in that area soon, I would expect another large expansion for 2002. I LOVE DORNEY!
