Could this be new for 2006?

I'm not sure of what this ride is called, but i've seen them before at fairs and whatnot. What do you think? Knoebels is know for bringing old rides back to working condition.

Isn't that Fandango at Knoebals? If so there is a thread talking about it from last week a review about it. Not sure though.

Indeed that is a rock n roll, that would no doubt be a nice adition to a great park. Theres a carnival here in my area that refurbished on. And its a pretty sweet looking ride. You don't see to many of them anymore.

Not sure what it is called but I have been on one of those at a local fair once. It is just like a ferris wheel but you have a brake handle that you can use to hold the cabin stationary if you want to. This allows the cabin and you to go upside down. When I rode it I got it going up to 30ish revolutions in the ride cycle. Man was I dizzy!

It's an Allan Herschell Looper (The Rock and Roll Is a Chance ride that is almost but not quite the same).

I believe the plan is to get it operating but who knows when they will get around to it.

It is a Herschell "Looper" and is 10x better than the copied Rock and Roll. It will be going into the area next to the flyer once occupied by "Whirlwind".

It's a horizontal Rock-O-Plane!

Here's one from Whalom Park and while they call it a "Rock and Roll" it is really a looper. A Chance Rok 'N Roll is like this.

At least now I can stop salivating, LOL. This looks fun, but the Rock-O-Plane is one of my top-5 flats, an amazing contraption.

Much more tolerable than the Torture-O-Pain at Lake Winnie ;-)

Look for the Hershell Looper to open on Whirlwind's plot of land later this year, if all goes as planned.

Loopers are cool-- Remembering the rides I had on it as a kid. How old do you think this particular ride is? Wouldn't surprise me if it were the same ride I rode on. By "interactive" are you referring to the fact that the riders control the rotation?

But the thing is, you don't just automatically flip over, you have to "work" your way up to it. And the thing rotates in both directions, so you could end up flipping in the opposite direction that the whole ride is going. You could also end up perched at the top looking down for a few seconds without going all the way over. Crazy ride.

There is a clutch that enables riders to make the cage loop.

Of course, maybe the ride I remember was so old and decrepit, the clutch didn't work correctly and we'd just rock back and forth awhile until (maybe) momentum carried us over.

You flat ride guys are the best... Who would EVER be able to tell the difference between the Chance model and Herschell unless you were really dedicated? I have a tough time remembering the coaster names I've been on, let alone remembering flat names/manufacturers.

P.S. The only Herschell I know was a running back, but I’m quite sure he spelled the name differently… :-)

RGB - Whalom's Loopers had clutches that were not working. One had to lean back and forth to get the tub to roll. It was quite a workout ;)
