Huss Topple Tower in action

OK ... it really looks like another one of those rides that look fun at first, but when you are actually on, it's going to 100% work on your masochistic pleasure receptor - meaning you wish you hadn't gone on ..etc.

Is it going to hurt very much?

I would actually prefer the seats to face inward so that the forces from rotation press you into the seat, while the dipping motion generates some airtime - kind of like an inversed GeForce ride.

Of course that's not a good idea as it would both look less fun and exciting from the outside and the riders would also have much less to see - so the overall showmanship would be compromised.

I seem to have problems with rides giving me too much acceleration out of the seat - it might be just me and my oversized cranium that's shaken about in it's shell unfavourably by this kind of ride though. :o)

Worst flat experience: "Space Roller".

After I have seen other pics which showed the tower leaning very far to the ground, I thought it was a great ride.

Looking at those videos - I am not so sure anymore. I expected something completely different: slow seat rotation, faster (and MORE) tower toppling and a pronounced tower rotation.
Apparantly they are still messing around with various ride programms.

Apart from a few duds, HUSS always knew what they did.

O, Superman: Space Roller is a fantastic ride, if operated well.

THhe car is spinning way to fast!! I thought it was going to be at giant Frisbee speeds. Jeez talk about dizzy. It is also very very short ride but all those accpects can be altered by a quick click of a mouse.

and That ride is almost as short as TTD

I don't know if I would complain about that ride being short. After it started spinning that fast, I'm not sure how much I could take. After a few minutes, my whole day could be ruined.

It doesent look intense enough for me in the video. I wish it swung faster back and forth.

Most videos don't do the actual on ride feel justice... I bet many get off that ride and have truly experienced... spin and puke.

BT, judgeing by what we've heard. I don't think they make a ride intense enough for you. ;)

The bird reminds me of one of those stupid "vacation gifts" I got as a kid. Where the bird dipped forward and drank water or something like that. I can't remember exactly, but thats what it reminds me of.

It's such an awesome concept, but everything I've seen of it in operation says that the ride cycle bites... The car spins way too fast. The thing only topples once each way. However the fact that the entire base rotates as well is really cool. And I'm still not sold on how the arm and motors will hold up to the forces created by all that weight at that end of the pendulum... Even with a counterweight at the end of the arm, the forces and stresses on that thing will be HUGE...

That ride looks off the hook.

The Europeans (finally!) got a S&S Swatter, hope it doesn't take that long for US to get a Topple Tower...

I haven't even gotten over Prater's StarFlyer yet, LOL...;)

ShaneDenmark, it topples way more than one way each way. It was said with that link on the first page that it is (was) still testing and that they were playing with the programme.

^It does look much better now! I am not so sure if the riders or the spectators are screaming louder, though.

It is definately a ride to watch, and I think that its family appeal is actually more like "lets just watch the kids ride this thing".

@rollergator: Hansa Park on the german baltic sea has got the second Star Flyer (it seats 24 people, double seats) and is beatifully located close to the beach.) I always thought that Orlando was going to get one too.

Shane, you've been harping on the mechanics of the ride for weeks! Between the sophisticated computer programs in use and knowledge of the Huss employees, I think we can be confident that they would not manufacture the ride if they realized that the stresses were extreme. As long as the counterweight is heavy enough (which it certainly appears to be), the only significant force is going to be that of gravity, which will be transferred through the supports on the fulcrum down to the foundation. The motors only have to compensate for the difference in weight between the two sides (think of the ride as a 90-degree see saw). Chances are that the Huss designers have balanced the ride as perfectly as possible, as gravity is a more efficient means of "tilting" than electric motors.
