Check out the on-ride video of IJST at PCW here:
http://www.pulse24.com/Showbiz/Top_Story/20050421-003/page.asp

Although the first launch doesn't seem as powerful as I thought it would be, the whole ride looks a lot faster than it did in the earlier off-ride footage. The effects are pretty cool and the tunnel section looks like it will provide some unexpected thrills.

Not bad. That helicopter scene looks pretty cool :)

However, it doens't look all too fun overall. Thanks for the link though.

I still think that the ride is way too short and the line for it is going to be huge. I like PCW's placement of the ride a lot more than PKIs.

So everyone raves about The Mummy but disses this before getting on it? Looks like a great time to me.

For the record, I didnt think the Mummy would be as good as it ended up, perhaps I will be impressed again. Is that ok?

Watch a POV video of the Raven and tell me it doesn't look like the most boring coaster of all time.

Don't judge a coaster by its POV.

I dunno. This one interests me as much as any other new installation this year (and more so than KK).

Looks like a good 'silly fun' ride. Not something that blows your socks off, just something that's fun to ride.

Looks entertaining to me. Although I don't know how long I'd want to wait for it after I've ridden it for the first time.

I like the reporter's statement, " it has ... something called a helix..." He says it as if it's something new or unique. I realize that most people aren't into this stuff as much as we are, but when you add this to Insanity being called a coaster you begin to realize just how empty your local news reporters' heads are. I think the modern criteria for these types of reporters are a pretty face and a weird name. ;)

Looks like I will get both within two weeks of each other.

I saw PKI's test and it does looking interesting, but just like POV, you can't judge a coaster just by watching it in action. :-)

Still, I can't wait!

It looks good to me and with 2000ft of track its not that small. I just wish the jerk filming would have kept the camera on the ride, nobody wants to see the stupid looks on his face he's supposed to be showing the ride.

At least its a little better than our favorite new reporter from coaster news. ;) It looks like he actually has a script.

i'm not sure what to put here..

Don't worry Talon, you're not missing much, just think of any other POV video you may have seen before...this one makes the ride look just as boring.

Myself, I can't wait to get to PKI and ride this baby. Looks like a great ride! And someday I need to get back up to PCW. They've added so much since I was there in '99. The last time I was there "The Fly" was the big, new attraction.

Wow, that looks way more stupid than I thought.

It's short, the reporter said his knees hurt, and the tunnel is SHORT.

That said, I like the Helix a lot, it just doesn't look as good as the original videos had me hyped up for.

And I don't think it's just the POV aspect.

When i was watching test at PKI it looks intense heading into the upward helix. Then the ride has al kinds of twists and turns. It looks to be a fun ride.

You know theres airtime when you can actually hear the upstop wheels slam onto the track, then hear nothing until the top wheels are back down.

That's just awesome. (Refering to end of ride, of course)

Hopefully I can get to PKI this summer.

Looks good to me. Honestly I don't think there will ever be a ride/ ocaster were people are not going to go and b*tch about it, before it opens and before they've even rode the ride.

Is the Italian Job going to have that stupid plastic bubble over the walk-way towards the end of the ride where the train makes the "splash" out of the sign into the water?

If so... does anyone know the reasoning behind it (aside from peeps throwing things or spitting onto the train as it passes by)?

The preview animation didn't show the bubble... then again, the preview animation showed a yellow track as well.

PCW has updated the media centre section of thier site with this data sheet (loads in Acrobat). Has some interesting information about the special effects used throughout the ride as well as technical specs that I haven't anywhere else yet.

pinkdoom,

The entire lenght of the tunnel is not show in that video. The time the train spends in the tunnel is about 8 seconds long from the second launch area. While that may seem like a short time, the train isn't going slow through it. Almost the entire tunnel is downhill.
