Only Blue train to run on SROS at SFNE

I just returned from SF Media day for Pandemonium, which was alot of fun. I got in 12rides. I was talking with a worker who said they installed new restraints on the blue train and the red train would not be ready until mid May. If anyone is going opening weekend I'm sure the lines will be long.

The new restraints are actually kind of cool. No more side belt that wraps from the front of the T-Bar to the side of the train. Also, if a cars restraints needs to be released, they don't have to release the whole train anymore just the individual car. The new restraint system should speed things up a little bit. I think you will find the wait well worth it.

Are there any pictures of the new belts?

I haven't really read up on any of this so I don't know much about it. Are they supposed to make it easier for larger riders or are they the same, just designed a little different?

If it's the same as what they did to Superman at SFA, then essentially it's the exact same as last year, except the redundancy belt (the belt that goes from the lap bar to the side of the train) has been removed. Instead there are now sensors that allow the ride opperator to be able to tell if the restraints are down far enough. So, essentially, it's back to a very similar system that the ride had when it opened, except it has the side bars and ankle pads that were added last year and it has the different seatbelts that they also added last year (similar to the seatbelts that are on wooden coasters).

So, is the airtime back to the levels before they changed the restraints last year or still weakened?

I never noticed a difference in airtime on SFA's S:ROS last season. I still get incredible airtime on both hills and the drop is still breathtaking.

Dude, if the airtime on the SFNE version was better before the restraint change last year, I think me and my friend would have passed out from all the insanity (I described the ride as being relentless in my trip report). That hill by the photo booth has got to be one of thee best moments of airtime ever.

Sweet, it sounds like a B&M hyper now. B&M hypers have "contacts" on the lap bars that monitor where the lap bar position is in the station. It must be down at least three "clicks" before it's considered secure by the computer.
