Click the pic that says "Working on the brakes." although not 420 feet up in the air, they are still a good 150 up I'd imagine. I would not be able to do it. My hat is off to all the unsung heroes that BUILD the rides we enjoy.

Those ironworkers are more brave than I'll ever be. Between the height and the weather conditions, I wouldn't even think about doing it. Outstanding job they do!

I would do it. Its not like they are not wearing any saftey devices.

What about if they riveted you?

Harness, rope, wires..., nothing could get me to walk up a track like that. I can go to the observation deck at work 60 stories up and walk over and look out the window. That even scares me. I can't imagine doing it outside. My hats off to the workers that make things like this a reality for us!

Count me in the number that would not be able to do the work in that pic.

Also count me in the number the will be cussing and fussing as the ride hits 456' but afterwards will be full of adrenaline and ready to go again :)

Good catch Markieb. Back to English class I go! ;) I agree about the observation deck thing. Even high stairwells bother me. Lift hills do not though because I feel secure in trains.

I'd do it in a heart beat. I'd even be the one to go to the verry top and change the little blinking red light that warns planes not to fly there.

I am exactly like you. In a train, you can take me 1000 feet. Standing on a observation deck I get shakey at 100 feet. Wierd !

There's no way you could get me get me up there. I don't even like looking at people high up like that.

For a long time I was afraid to ride the taller coasters because of those reports I've heard of the train stalling on the lift and the passengers having to walk down. This was many years ago and I've since tried to put that out of my mind and just ride the dang things. But I still think about it and to this day, the lift hill is always the scariest part of a coaster for me.

I could do it no problem if I were secured. Otherwise, no.

I was just thinking about maintenance on these giga coasters earlier today and wondering how high a coaster maintenance guy would be willing to go in the coming years as we go over the +500' mark. That might be the true limit of how high we can go. I guess somebody would do it for enough pay.

Thankfully the brakes on MTR aren't that high off the ground! ;)

I used to free-lance for some smaller broadcast operations (early 80's) doing beacon light maintenance which consisted of changing bulbs, cleaning lenses, etc. The tallest tower I ever climbed was 758 feet. I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to do it anymore.

While it is dangerous you can't imagine how peaceful it is up there once you're tethered in to the tower.
