Well today is PKI's media day, and as usual, it was full of surprises.
Here's what we know for this season and was confirmed (by Jeff Siebert at PKI):
Runaway Reptar coaster and Wild Thornberries log flume were operational and quite enjoyable. Reptar is mainly a Vekoma inverted roller skater. It has Face/Off style cars. One train only, holding 20 people.
Thornberries: if you have been on Kings Mills flume, then this is no different. Theming is the main draw, and 90% of that is in and around the station house. Still a great flume ride.
Flight of Fear will have lap bars, but we couldn't see it today. The trains were on loan to PKD for some reason anyway.
7th Portal will be running opening day. Smash Factory (the other movie showing in the theater) will open in late spring. 7th Portal was not running today.
Lastly, and the BIGGEST news: Keatons Cove Keelboats is NO MORE! It will be torn down (confirmed by Jeff Siebert again) to make room for the 2002 attraction. All he would say is that it'll be 'Adventurous'. (Maybe the Tomb Raider dark ride may be true after all) This season you'll see walls surrounding the ride when they start the removal this summer.
I really just wanted to cover major points. Others may expound on their experience at media day.
They even had 'Mad Dog'(was it Marilyn? She was the third person expelled is all I know) Hershey from Survivor 2 and Nick Cannon from Nickelodeon there to 'grandly open' the rides.
All in all a fun day.
