Superman Vs Superman

Quick question... I thought SRoS at SFDL & SFA were mirror images of each other? Doesn't that imply they are identical otherwise? Then why does Coasterbuzz list SFDL's as taller, with 50 feet of extra track, and 30 seconds longer ride time? Of course, RCDB lists entirely different stats, but both SRoS's are different again.

They are two totally differnet rides. Just go to RCDB and check out the pictures.

The version at SFA needed to be under 200' in height to meet the local county regulations. It drops below gound level slightly to give the ride a 205' drop making it a true hypercoaster as seen in this picture:

The version at SFDL does not drop below the height the coaster is at when it reaches the lift, but the lift is slightly taller, the drop is still 205'.

As for the difference in length, I'd say it's either a rounding difference, or the one at SFA includes the length of the station and the one at SFDL does not. Otherwise, it may be possible that SFA slightly shortened the length of the straight sections between the hills and the helixes. Either way, none of the differences, beside the fact that the ride is mirrored, are really noticeable when riding the two attractions.

My guess is that the 50 additional feet come from the lift hill being taller on SFDL's version. They both have an identical first drop and everything after that is a mirror image of each other. On coasters as long as these two the 50 feet difference really isn't much.

Okay... I was just wondering where the differences came into play. I didn't realize that SFA had a 200' height limit, so that makes sense.

These types of differences are typical with clones. Go check all the stats of the Batman: The Ride clones and you will go nuts.

I always just figured with clones, they were set up for a flat area and they would use the footers to make up for any differences in terrain. For example, SFDL's SRoS obviously has pretty tall footers since most of the ride is over water. But if you look at it, the tops of the footers create a pretty level playing field. I guess I figured SFA just used the footers out over that plot of land to raise above the ground to make a level area... Does that make sense?

All the footers set nice and level with the ground except in the back leftmost portion of the ride where the ground slopes down and the footers have been extend to compinsate for it. The same thing was done for the two mirrored Superman coastrers as you noted.

Check out the difference between Raptor and Orochi, and see if you can figure out the difference. :)

One has primarily Japanese riders and the other is filled with Americans.

Raptor is shorter in length(3790' as opposed to 3937') taller in height (137' as opposed to 131' 3"), and faster(57mph as opposed to 55.3mph) than Orochi.

Raptor is flugly green, Orochi is pretty white & pink, and one is in U.S.A., one is in Japan.
