Hershey Park Visit July 2001

Greetings!
I am posting this message in order to find out a bit more about Hershey Park and the area around it. The wonderful young lady I am dating found out that the "ageless rocker" Rod Stewart will be playing at Hershey Stadium in late July and since I always wanted to go to the park, I figured we could take a small vacation and both be happy (well, I'll be happy except for the few hours I have to watch Mr. Stewart prance around). Anyway, I was just wondering a few things. First, does anybody have an opinion on where we should stay around Hershey park (preferably somewhere nice and close to the park)? Second, has anybody ever been to a show at Hershey Stadium? Is the Stadium right near the park? Any help or information about the park and surronding area would also be greatly appreciated.

Let's just say if Rod Stewart isn't your thing you can watch the Wildcat to the right of the stage. Or get your hand stamped before leaving the park and sneak out of the concert and go back to the park.;) The Stadium is in the parking lot for the park. I saw Aerosmith there a few years ago. You could visit the park then go to the show that way you don't have to pay parking twice.

For places to stay I can only think of Hotel Hershey. I never stayed there but I heard it's nice. They also run shuttel service to and from the park (don't know about after Rod Sewart though). Check out Hershey's website. I'm not sure of the URL but It's here on Coasterbuzz.

You could also buy a preview pass(after 6pm?) and enter the park then buy a ticket for the next day and get a discount.

Hershey's web site pretty much covers what it right in Hershey, since there isn't much that Hershey doesn't own. The Hotel Hershey is excellent, but expensive. Nearby, you might want to consider exploring the Amish country if you have time.

There are three places you could stay that are close to the park and they all offer shuttle buses to and from the park. They are the Hotel Hershey, The Hershey Lodge, and the Hershey Highmeadow Campgrounds if you're into that sort of thing. They all are excellent places to stay. I can offer anything you want to know about the park and the area since I work there and I would be glad to help you out.

Go on the 4th, their fireworks are awesome.

Things could get a bit messy up there this summer with the parking situation.

Parking is never a pretty site when the park is open. The concerts in the statium also cause headaches (backups for miles!). And right now they have some parts of the lots torn up... making new traffic pattersn for the new arena I guess.

If you are able to go during the week the lines are really nice. Don't go the day of the show cause the lines are pretty long. Unless you don't mind waiting a while.

When I was at training a couple of days ago, I was told that the parking lot construction is to be done by May 15th. I don't know how much I believe this, but the parking lot by the stadium is pretty much done.

Also if you have a ticket to a concert I think you can get into the park for half price.

If you have a ticket to a concert, you can get into the park for $17.95. It is good the day of the show only.
