Alton Towers' Rita - Website updated

Alton Towers have updated their www.riderita.com website to show construction pics and a small info page.... worth a look for anyone planning to visit AT this year!

Honestly I think it's interesting. The launch system itself is a neat idea, I just don't understand why so far we've basically had every other launch into a top hat.

Cheap way to break records? Either that or check out the reactions in the other thread: most people's first reaction to something without a major hill is "boring". Not many beyond enthusiasts are going to actually think about it a second time to consider other good things about it.

That being said, I sure wish they'd lay down that 420' been-there-done-that and make it curl around itself a few times - you know, if I had a spare few million lying around ...

Interestingly enough, this ride seems more representative of European tastes. I guess I can't quantify my opinion, but I've always had the impression that European preference leans more toward speed and curves than height and airtime.

I think it looks like a cool ride too.

I think if someone did that here people would go ride it, I think its the parks who would worry about how to market it. I could see something like this working at Kennywood or someplace similar.

speed? it's gonna do 60 mph that's slower than people drive their cars... now if it was hitting like 80 or 90 miles per hour that would be a rush.

It may not be as fast as the other rocket coasters, but at least its not a one trick ride. I like the fact that it has a small hypercoaster layout going for it after what should still be a solid launch.

Look at it this way- the Schwarzkopf shuttle loops do 0-55 in 5 seconds. This one does close to that speed in half the time. Its going to be intense!

Typical! It opens the day after my annual pass expires.

I would think, new ideas for rides, bring new fun, like this one.

So you're saying that 98% of all coasters aren't a "rush"?

Just a question for someone who has been to the park- how does the ride's racing theme fit into the dinosaur area of the park? Perhaps Rita has its own new area?

Its been incorporated into the existing Ugland, which remains. But there is talk that this will be only for 1 more year, but that is just internet rumours.

The corckscrew has been repainted and looks lovely, so its staying.

Rita is also being themed as Thunder rock Rally, a sort of travelling ride which is visiting Ugland. Does that make sense??
