Have you ridden it and what was it like? *** Edited 2/17/2005 4:57:11 PM UTC by Cedar "Counter" Point***

Have I rode it? No. But I've ridden it and it was great! The ride is a piece of American Amusement History...to be at Coney Island and not ride it is a shame...just make sure you get a rocking car and NOT a stationary car.

Ferris Wheels give me the willies, and I gotta say, the Wonder Wheel was one of the best experiences I've had on any ride i've ever been on. The moving cars are a must, just bring a change of shorts. ;)

I rode the Wonder Wheel a couple years ago and it *is* the scariest ferris wheel I've ever been on. Knowing that it is that old, but still has no accident reports, is amazing. The view from the top is.....urban.....but extremely nice. Definitely check it out.

I've been on the Sun Wheel at California Adventure several times. I assume its the same sensation. Its a pretty cool feeling, going over the top and having the car slide downwards.

So, I'd say DCA's Sun Wheel is the next best thing- and doesn't have the scary "falling apart" feeling that the Coney Island model probably has. ;)

I could be wrong but I think that the Wonder Wheel has "tracks" that are more creative than the basic ovals on DCA's Sun Wheel. Can someone confirm that?

DCA's Sun Wheel wishes is could be as good as Coney's Wonder Wheel.

IIRC [and someone will correct me if I haven't] Wonder Wheel's tracks are slightly kidney-shaped so that once the cars finally begin their downhill treck they maneuver down a small dip.

Yeah, it's all about those little dips. :)

The tracks on the Wonder Wheel looked like one long track, but it may be ovals too. I found a picture online here:

That's not one long track. It looks like each car has it's own oval shaped track.

Your link is broken...click here to view that photo. Its hard to tell but the tracks are not a true oval.

All of the structure makes it hard to tell what the tracks do. But they're definitely not plain ovals.

I still have yet to Coney Island. Its on my list of places to visit. I have been all around it, but have never stopped to the ride the Cyclone or the Wonder wheel. I hope to get there sometime this season.

I'm not a huge fan of ferris wheels. I can really only handle the Giant Wheels with cabins. The bench style Ferris Wheels scare the crap out of me. That said, I will never ride the Wonder Wheel. I rode the Sun Wheel at DCA and hated every minute of it. I know it's safe, but it scared the crap out of me.

If DCA's Sun Wheel scared the crap outta you I'd hate to see what Dino's Wonder Wheel scares out of you? I'd guess a lung or kidney...?

I was thinking something else, but then I thought about it and I realized that it would probably apply to people that really love ferris wheels.

Now I'll get my mind back out of the gutter...

Ooooh... I never looked closely at the tracks on the Wonder Wheel. I just assumed they were ovular (is that a word in the meaning I'm shooting for?) like DCA's Sun Wheel.

Wonder Wheel looks teh more exciting.
